The Day of Pentscost is the day God chose to pour out His Holy Spirit in Jersalem, becasue He knew this was the time the city would be filled with Jews and Gentiles froll al the different regions.
The apostles DID NOT ASK for the Holy Spirit, this is the Promise God made to Abraham, and Jesus promised He would be with us always, therefore, this was God's salvation plan to send Himself/Jesus back to live within His people to be with them always.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God thorugh Jesus Christ. John chapter 14. And ONLY He can regenrate which means make us new creations in Christ, born again from above, meaning in Christ.
And this can only come about whan a perosn has HEARD the gospel of Jesus Christ, has FAITH TO BELIEVE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHIRST, REPENET OF THEIR SIN, and THEN ND only THEN does the Holy Spirit enter in and SEALS US until the day of Jesus' return as born agian believers.
Yes, a person can sk for the Holy Spirit to come into tiet life, but all the work of the Holy Spirit as far as speaking in toungues is up to the Holy Spirit. Everybody isn't given the gift of tongues, Paul writes abput all the spiritual gifts that are given. the gift of tongues (languages was given out in Acts chpater 2, to the apostles and throughout the Book of Acts, ONLY for the works of the ministry, to those who were going throughout all of the land, so that the apostles and disciples might ministry to those who did not speak their native language, this way the people in the regions might understand the gospel when heard in their own language. ONLy those apostles and disciples who had the gift of tongues (llanguages) were sent to all the different regions to preach and teach the gospel.
This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit the giving of spiritual gifts for the works of the ministry. Receiving the Holy Spirit as a born again experience is what happens to ALL WHO HAVE FATH TO BELIVE IN Jesus Christ, and if a person believes in Jesus and ask Him to come into hi/her lefi He will come.

WOW! seem I'm getting owrse and worse. on my os-called typing :ROFL:CORRECTION:The Day of Pentscost is the day God chose to pour out His Holy Spirit in Jersalem, because He knew this was the time the city would be filled with Jews and Gentiles from all the different regions.
The apostles DID NOT ASK for the Holy Spirit, this is the Promise God made to Abraham, and God promised to fulfill the PROMISE saying I will be thier God and they will be my people , this is why Jesus promised He would be with us always and never leave us, therefore, this was God's salvation plan to send Himself/Jesus back to live within His people to be with them always.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God through Jesus Christ. John chapter 14. And ONLY He can regenerate which means make us new creations in Christ, born again from above, wash us and cleanse us preparaing us in right standing before God in Christ.
And this can only come about when a perosn has HEARD the gospel of Jesus Christ, has responded with FAITH TO BELIEVE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHIRST, REPENTED OF THEIR SINS, and THEN AND only THEN does the Holy Spirit enter in and SEALS US until the day of Jesus' return as born again believers children of God.
Yes, a person can ask for the Holy Spirit to come into their life, but all the work of the Holy Spirit as far as thee gifts of the Spirit, such as speaking in tongues is up to the Holy Spirit. Everybody isn't given the gift of tongues, Paul writes about all the spiritual gifts that are given, ALL the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and that of tongues (languages were given out in Acts chapter 2, to the apostles and disciples throughout the Book of Acts, ONLY for the works of the ministry, to those who were going throughout all of the land preaching and teaching, so that the apostles and disciples might ministry to those who did not speak their native language... this way, the people in the regions might understand the gospel when heard in their own language as we read in Acts chapter 2, those who heard the apostles speak in all the different languages to them about Jesus. ONLY those apostles and disciples who had the gift of tongues (languages) were sent to all the different regions to preach and teach the gospel.
This is called the BAPTISM of the Holy Spirit with fire, the giving of spiritual gifts for the works of the ministry God makes the choice of those who receive such gifts.
Receiving the Holy Spirit as a born again experience is what happens to ALL WHO HAVE FAITH TO BELIEVE IN Jesus Christ, and if a person believes in Jesus and ask Him to come into his/her life He will come. BUT every Beliveriver DOES NOT RECEIVE the BAPTISM of the Holy Spirit with ALL SPIRUTAL GIFTS... as Paul so states in His writings.

You Go a Long Way from speak(ing) in other tongues
Acts 2:4
New International Version (NIV)
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
Footnotes:

I Know that some of you do not like to Hear or Read something like thisBecause it Means that All that Gibberish and Nonsensical Utterings are MAN MADE.
But Scripture Speaks to Men Being Able to Be Understood in MANY DIFFERENT LANGUAGES (Tongues)! Read those Verses Again
speak in other tongues
declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!
LANGUAGES (Tongues)not Gibberish! It wasnt Until the 1930 s in a Los Angeles Tent Revivalthat Speaking In Tongues was FIRST EVER HEARD! After that Incidenta Lot More People were heard Speaking In TonguesGo Figure?

Arch:
Just so you will know there was a lot of Catholics that where born again in the charismatic renewal, and if you where to ask them, they would tell you you are on dangerous grounds making that statement you did.
When I was first saved as scripture teaches not by my baptismal papers, they where and are still worthless. I went to a denominational church nothing absolutely nothing about the word of God but as started into the church these words came out of my mouth there is something wrong here and I then thought why did I say that and then again the next week same thing, the lord made sure I knew in my spirit this was not a place he would go, it was a few months later that he sent someone my way to tell me why there was no peace in my heart, and the answer was very similar to what you said. I had not yet received the Holy Spirit but those that have know he is not gibberish and as David said take not you spirit from me.
That is primarily why you have such heights of carnality as is seen on this site, it is very difficult to walk in truth without the comforter.
It is those that thirst and hunger after righteousness that will be filled, not those who do not.
