Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Where was Jesus Praying and Why? Did he know God's will for his Life?

Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemene, he knew what the Father's will was for his life, and he laid down his life willingly as a sacrifice for us all. Like wise should we present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to the Lord which is our reasonable act of service.

If this is reasonable, what would be unreasonable?

Hello everyone:

Isa 53:10 But Jehovah pleased to crush Him, to make Him sick, so that If He should put His soul as a guilt offering, He shall see His seed; He shall prolong His days; and the will of Jehovah shall prosper in His hand.

Isa 53:11 He shall see the fruit of the travail of His soul; He shall be fully satisfied. By His knowledge the righteous One, My Servant, shall justify for many, and He shall bear their iniquities.

Gethsemane-Greek Definition

G1068

Γεθσημανῆ

Gethsēmanē

Thayer Definition:

Gethsemane = an oil press

1) the name of a place at the foot of the Mount of Olives, beyond the torrent Kidron

Verse 53; we see in Yeshua the fulfillment of this particular Prophetic Messianic Scripture.

Jehovah 'CRUSHED' His Messiah of man.

Yeshua was offered as a Guilt / Sin Offering, this offering had a to be made this way,as Jehovah had given His word concerning the death of Messiah.

Gen 3:14 And Jehovah God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, you are cursed above all beasts, and above every animal of the field. You shall go on your belly, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He will bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.

The wrath,judgement,and justice,of Jehovah was 'COMPLETELY' fulfilled / satisfied,and

Yeshua made 'ATONEMENT' for the sin(s) of man

Jehovah was 'PLEASED' to crush Messiah.

1a1a) to take pleasure in, delight in

1a1b) to delight, desire, be pleased to do

1a2) of God

1a2a) to delight in, have pleasure in

1a2b) to be pleased to do

2) to move, bend down

2a) (Qal) to bend down

Part of Speech: verb

Messiah knew the will of Jehovah, and we see in Gethsemane the struggle between the will of man and the will of GOD.

Mat 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

Mat 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Yeshua brings the will of man under the will of GOD,

'nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt'.

As Messiah is being crushed,He sweats Blood, yet this blood is not the blood of the 'ATONEMENT',

For if this is the blood of the Atonement, then Yeshua would not have had to have gone to Calvary.

Mat 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

Mat 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Mat 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Messiahs praying is not to Jehovah ( The Eternal all sufficient one),

Yeshua prays according to his relationship with the Father,

'MY FATHER'.

Even when we are being crushed and broken of GOD,we too should be crying out from within our relationship with ABBA,'MY FATHER'.

We are heard not because of our much whining, and complaining, but rather we are heard on the basis of relationship with YHWH in Yeshua.

Yeshua freely gave way to the will of the Father,He fulfilled all righteousness.

Yeshua 'DRANK THE CUP OF THE WRATH OF GOD'

In drinking this cup,Yeshua did not leave not even one molecule for anyone trusting Him,too drink.

This is the cup of the wrath of GOD ALMIGHTY.

Yeshua drinks the cup,yet He / Yeshua gives to those Faithing into Him; He gives to them 'PEACE' NOT WRATH'.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

GODS purpose for crushing Messiah;

And his purpose for crushing His children is this:

In crushing Messiah the Father reveals that He will do the same with us,in order that we might see ourselve as we truely are,AND that HE / Father might see Yeshua within us.

Crushing of GOD is 'ALWAYS'to His Glory.

Mat 10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Mat 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

Mat 10:24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

Mat 10:25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

John_12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

Shalom

Sure, Jesus knew God's will before He came to earth.

The pain He bore was more than He could bear in His human body. His prayer was a request seeking that if God might find another way that He should die wihotut so much pain.

He was also greiving for all our sins and those of all the world of those who would be born. He was also being an example for us in seeking God's perfect will in our lives when we pray. He has taught His disciples and us, that we should ask if it is God's will such and such is to be done, and ask God's will for what we request of God when we pray.

This is how we are taught to pray according to God's will, if it be Your will can I, or may I, or Father if it be You will to do such and such.

James points this out to us in James chapter 4, instead of our plans being done, we should seek God's will to be done and say IF THE LORD WILLS, I will do such and such on tomorrow...

Jesus was about to die for our sins, this was His purpose for coming to earth to save us from the hold strong to defeat satan on our behalf. And as the time drew near, He began to feel the pain He would suffer, and its not that He sought not to die, but that the bitter cup (which was the awful unbearable pain) be removed from Him, if it was God's will. This is why He asked God to remove the bitter cup if it was His will and not Jesus' will... it teaches us also about suffering, as the writer of Hebrews says, we have not suffered until death, as unto the suffering of the cross therefore, we are to endure suffering until this too shall pass.

Going to the cross was not an easy work for Jesus to undertake, and we all should bring into mind when we sin how much He did suffer for our sake to have eternal life, and stop our sinning as Paul comands us as believers we ought to do, because a great unspeakable painful price was paid for our repentance unto salvation. And when we as believers continue to sin, we crucify Jesus and bring all the pain He has already siffered right back on Him, frustrating God's divine grace of Jesus' suffering.

And when we suffer, we all should keep in mind that our suffering is but for a little while, and then the glory, because Jesus has already suffered for us unto death on the cross....
