Word for Today ~ Without Excuse

if thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; if thou sayesy, Behold, we knew not; doth not he that ponderth the heart consider it ? And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it ? And shall not he render to every man according to his works ? Proverbs 24:11-12

Hudson Taylor had been consistently convicted and confronted with the need of the people of China. Todays verses continually rang in his mind and finally on the beach of Brighton he surrendered to the staggering, sobering call of God. After this Jacob-like confrontation with the God of Heaven he wrote:

On Sunday, June 25, 1865, unable to bear the sight of a congregation of a thousand Christian people rejoicing in their own security; while millions were perishing for lack of knowledge. I wandered out on the sands alone, in great spiritual agony; and there the Lord conquered my unbelief, and I surrendered myself for this service.

The Call of God is to Go, the Cry of the Heathen is to Come, and the Crux of the Matter for the Redeemed is to Submit or Surrender, as a Willing Servant to the Saviour. Submission is an Act of Ones Will before the Fact. Surrender is the Forcing of Ones Will by being Apprehended. Would you at least Surrender if you havent Submitted ?

Remember: Service to God in Response to Sacrifice of the Saviour will Result in Eternal Salvation of the Sinner.
