Well the answer to your Question is YES.

But you need to word it better......

Do you take the Bible as it is written?

The reason we need to say it this way is because the Bible contains many types of writings.

The Song of Solomon is poetry, so it should be taken by the rules of poetry.

Proverbs is a collection of short sayings on how to be wise.

If we pretend proverbs is full of hidden prophetical messages, then we are NOT reading it the way the writer intended.

You will always get pressure from skeptic types to not read Genesis as it is written. They want you to read it as allegory, when the fact is, it was written as narrative.

So we must take the Bible as it is written, or we are not being honest with how it was written.

You meet some who call themselves Christians who are not interested in what the writer meant. They are interested in what they can make the Bible say.

We should always be trying to understand what the writer meant.

In Christ,

James

Peacnic,

Well, we do know that many of the events that actually took place on Earth, and were recorded in Genesis, and other books of the Old Testament, WERE ALSO allegories to teach us things.

The Apostle Paul mentioned a couple of these things.

You can look for these things and they are fine as long as:

1. Your interpretation does not contradict the Bible.

2. You put the writers intended meaning FIRST in importance.

In Christ,

James
