What Have I Done?

Why has this people slidden back, Jerusalem, in a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return. I listened and heard, But they do not speak aright. No man repented of his wickedness, Saying, 'What have I done?' Everyone turned to his own course, As the horse rushes into the battle. Jeremiah 8:5-6

The prophet Jeremiah warned the people to turn from their wickedness and return to the Lord. But Jerusalem carried out their temple rituals, and because of that they really thought they were doing only good things, and serving the Lord. What have I done?They were deceived in their thoughts and were perpetually slipping farther away from God. This happens when we start to really believe that we are not that sinful, just because we are doing religious activities. We believe we are getting closer to God but we can actually move away from Him. And the farther we get from God, the harder it is to repent and change.

We live in a world that is filled with deceit and wickedness. The world tells us what is acceptable. If it feels good, then do it. It you feel bad for doing it, then take a pill or do something to make yourself feel better. We have permission from the world to do whatever it takes to make ourselves feel better. Yet, so often, we end up feeling much worse. We can swing like a pendulum, from the heights of happiness to the depths of depression. And if we are not careful, we wake up one day wondering what happened. What have I done?

The Christian walk takes one day at a time. Some days are better than others, but every day belongs to the Lord. The only way to walk with the Lord consistently is to spend time with Him everyday. When times are hard and depression creeps in, do not look for the instant fix offered by the world. Turn to the Lord. When you feel good about yourself or things in your life, turn to the Lord and give Him thanks. None of us wants to feel badly, but when the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, we must be willing to repent and to turn from our sin. As we walk daily with the Lord, these convictions keep us from falling into deceitful ways of thinking. Ask the Lord today to help you answer the question: What have I done? You may be surprised at the answer. Listen to the Lord and be willing to change as He guides you.

The Bible tells us that Jerusalem is the city of the future. :angel: The final conflict of humanity will not be fought over Paris or Rome or New York City. It will be fought over Jerusalem. That is why the Bible tells us to pay attention to Jerusalem. In Zechariah 12:2, God said,

"I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink :toomuch:that makes the nearby nations stagger when they send their armies to besiege Jerusalem and Judah."

The Kingdom of God belongs to the Son of God. :waving:

Enter there through FAITH in Him!

Repent of your sins, confess them to the God and live a holy life OBEYING everything what God teaches you.

This is the Way of salvation for every Muslim and Arab and Jew and American and the name of this way is the Son of God.

Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life.

No one comes to the Father except through Me.

If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also;

and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.

Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.

Jesus said to him, Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?

He who has seen Me has seen the Father

John 14:7-9

John 16:8 "When he [the Holy Spirit] :angel:comes, he will convict the world, and show where right and wrong and judgment lie. He will convict them of wrong..."

The first work of the Holy Spirit is the conviction of sin. If we are Ttemples of the Spirit, His presence, His name in us will convict us, and others, of sin. We will feel more affinity towards those who, like us, long for more conviction, repentance, and the power of God to live a life that will stand the test of fire.

1 Jn 1:8-10 If we refuse to admit that we are sinners, then we live in a world of illusion and the truth becomes a stranger to us. But if we freely admit that we have sinned, we find him reliable and just--he forgives our sins and makes us thoroughly clean from all that is evil. For if we say "we have not sinned", we are making him a liar and cut ourselves off from what he has to say to us.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins:bow:, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us:glow:from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Isa 60:1-2,4-5 "Arise:angel:, shine:glow:, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you:angel:. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you :angel:and his glory appears over you:glow:... Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the arm. Then you will look and be radiant:glow:, your heart will throb and swell with joy..."

Isa 60:20 Your sun:glow: will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light:glow:, and your days of sorrow will end. :bouncy:

8And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment:

9About sin, because they do not believe in Me [trust in, rely on, and adhere to Me];

8 And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 of sin, because they believe not on me;

8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no

John 16:1 "I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away. 2 They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. 3 And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. 4 But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you. "I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. 12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
