Part Two: The Spirit Within: The Spirit upon > Have you received The Gift of the Holy?

our young men sWe that have received the Gift of the Holy Ghost know this is very distinct from receiving the lord Jesus and being born again, for the scripture is very clear of the promise of the father: The gift of the Holy Ghost for the church.

Just to recap:

Every Gospel proclaims that Jesus say's it is better that he go away, that he might send the comforter, the spirit of Truth unto us, this is another example of the fullness of the godhead in the lives of believers it was not an option to receive, to not receive the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was first given in the book of Acts and we will see the Gift is for all and distinctive and separate from the NEW Birth.

Notice what Peter said about this gift, this promise is for all flesh:

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and yhall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Acts 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Here again is the same promise and it is called the gift of the Holy Ghost. Which is defined in the bible and we will point out later.

Here is a good example of the distinction of receiving the Holy Spirit.

Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Acts 8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Acts 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Verse `12 and thirteen we see these people where saved.

Verses 14 and 15 when the apostle's heard they had received the word of God they immediately left to pray for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost.

Verse seventeen they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit, you do not lay hands on people to be saved!!

Verse 18 Simon saw something as you do in all scriptures concerning receiving the Holy Spirit, you can not tell people receive Jesus by seeing.

Ch 10 of Acts confirms and agrees with the second ch of Acts

Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Notice what Peter says in referring to this occurrence and the second ch of Acts:

Acts 11:13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

Acts 11:14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

Acts 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 11:17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

There are a total of five witness that speak of the believers receiving the Holy Spirit after receiving Jesus.

9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness . 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

1 John 4

Do you have the Spirit of Christ?

The Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead who is He?

He has given us of His Spirit. Who He?

God is ONE.

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. Through FAITH we are born of God and Gods Spirit dwells in us. Gods Spirit gives us His manifestation in different gifts and we all should constantly be filled by the Spirit of God.

Let me repeat:

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. Through FAITH in the God Jesus we are born of God and Gods Spirit dwells in us. Gods Spirit gives us His manifestation in different gifts and we all should constantly be filled by the Spirit of God.

Now let's think.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit.

And disciples received the Holy Spirit.

Until they received Him, they were not born again. Right?

They we just 'secular' believers....

When the Holy Spirit/the Spirit of Jesus/the Spirit of God entered their bodies they were born of God.

And they received the gifts/gift of the Spirit. It was His manifestation.

They also should be filled with the Spirit of God.

Today the Holy Spirit is on earth. Jesus sent Him. Through faith and repentance the Holy Spirit enters our bodies and gives us His gifts and fruits i.e. His manifestation.

We first have to HEAR the word to come to belief and we do that through God's inspired word only. Once we come to BELIEF we understand that we are SINNERS and that Christ died to wash us of those sins so that we can stand before God sanctified. As sinners we understand that we are sinners and that we must REPENTANT from the sins that put our savior on the cross. Understanding repentance we are called by Peter in Acts2:38 "Repent and be BAPTIZED, everyone of you,IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST so that your sins may be forgiven. And you will RECEIVE the gift of the Holy Spirit"

No I did not say any such thing, the post is about:

Receiving Jesus

Receiving The gift of The Holy Ghost

Nothing about the gifts of the spirit that is another topic entirely.

If you responded and did not read the post that is clearly wrong and if you responded as you did after reading the post you did not see or hear what was said, it is one or the other.

This topic started out as rightly dividing the word of truth and this is an example of just that.

The distinction between receiving Jesus and the difference between receiving the Gift of The Holy Spirit.

Here is another scripture that needs to follow:

2nd Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2nd Tim 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Why do we study?

That will not be ashamed

That will not be guilty of vain babblings.( not of faith)

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Christian are to receive the word of God with humility.

I see that you do not understand the issue:

The Holy Spirit was not on earth. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit.

And only then disciples received the Holy Spirit.

Until they received Him, they were not born again!!!!!

They we just 'secular' believers....

When the Holy Spirit/the Spirit of Jesus/the Spirit of God entered their bodies they were born of God and at that time we see the manifestation of the Spirit evident in the gifts.

And they received the gifts/gift of the Spirit. It was His essence that entered their bodies and His manifestation in gifts (tongues).

God said that we also constantly should be filled with the Spirit of God.

Today the Holy Spirit is on earth. Jesus sent Him. Through faith and repentance the Holy Spirit enters our bodies and gives us His gifts and fruits i.e. His manifestation.

I fully understand and also walk in these truth's and have since 1985.

The disciples that where in Jerusalem had already taken the Holy Spirit in them which is of course prior to the time spoken of in Acts 2:4

Jn 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

This is when Jesus was on the earth.

I also posted the acct in Acts ch 8, very word specific teaching the two topics

Being born again

Receiving the gift of The Holy Ghost.
