this is what I was taking about in my post about faith without works/ the repy by passed oover

Passedover continualy makes statements towards me that imply that you can behave however you want to and make it to heaven, which would be true except if you have true faith you wouldnt behave in evil ways, you would hate sin! When everyone was aking who? I wasnt home to answer but I am answering now! Passedove says it al the time just like he said it here! I am just defending myself! I know that works arent what saves me! But if you are saved you will have works that is what the metaphore about telling the tree by its fruit comes from! I am at my whits end with people implying I am legalistic becasue I believe we are called to be holy! The bible says be holy becasue God is holy!!! And thats a comand not a suggestion! So if you have faith then you love Jesus and Jesus said he who loves me keeps my comandments! So if you have faith you will keep the comandments!People love to call me legalistic and say I think my own holyness saves me BECAUSE THEY ARE CONVICTED AND THEY WAS AN EXCUSE TO HOLD ON TO THEIR SIN!!! So dont take it out on me and acuse me of being self rightous because you strive to be a sinner!

everyone:

Please look to the Greek language when you read this.

The english has this wrong, and those that say 'Faith without works is dead'.

These people are just parrots, someone says something and they just follow right along, without being a 'Berean'

Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

The Greek would refute this in a minute.

Shalom

Indeed.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are Gods handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

@elisha:

The Greek would refute this in a minute

Me says:

In this Scripture James is talking with another person.

This person is the 'O vain man'

This vain man is saying to James in verse 18,

Show me the faith of you without the works, and 'i you will show from the works of me the faith.

English-Dead

Greek-nekros

nekros: dead

Original Word: νεκρός, ά, όν

Part of Speech: Adjective

Transliteration: nekros

Phonetic Spelling: (nek-ros')

Short Definition: dead, a corpse

Definition: (a) adj: dead, lifeless, subject to death, mortal, (b) noun: a dead body, a corpse.

3498 nekrs (an adjective, derived from nekys, "a corpse, a dead body") dead; literally, "what lacks life"; dead; (figuratively) not able to respond to impulses, or perform functions ("unable, ineffective, dead, powerless," L & N, 1, 74.28); unresponsive to life-giving influences (opportunities); inoperative to the things of God.

3498 /nekrs ("corpse-like") is used as a noun in certain contexts ("the dead"), especially when accompanied by the Greek definite article. The phrase, ek nekron ("from the dead"), lacks the Greek article to give the sense "from what is of death."

The arguement presented here is this:

Vain man says to James,You have faith yet no works.

I have works,which shows i have faith.

My question is this, when you the average person trusting Yeshua.

When you have no works because of a spiritual drought,a.k.a. going through the desert.

Because you have no works during that time do you have faith that is active or not.

According to those trusting mans interpretation,.NO YOU DO NOT.

Well then joe christian, you cannot be saved according to mans interpretation.

How about when you sleep, use the restroom.

How about driving,shopping etc.

Do you now see that 'FAITH' without works is not 'DEAD'..

Shalom

Me

ps:

A seed that has not been planted,is that seed 'ALIVE or DEAD'

George You keep denying the word of God, by the means you call orginal language the context is very clear, you are altering the word to please you, and to fit your doctrine.

No stone throwing George, it is speaking the truth in love, the throwing of stones comes fron he that add's to and takes away from the word of God.

George, you misunderstand what I mean by works, I dont just mean helping the poor and homeless and so forth I mean obedience! Having a dry spiritual spell is no excuse to live in sin!

So in other words , comparing our relationship to Jesus to a marrige (which is biblical) If you are going through a place where you dont really have strong feelings for your wife (like your drought your talking about) then its ok not to love her like Jesus loves the church or maybe cheat on her, or mistreat her NO its not, so just becasue your in drt spell dont men you can live in sin! The works will still be evident

@passedover

Faith comes first, then works.

Faith without works is dead.

Jesus saves, no other means can you be saved but

by Faith in Jesus Christ as your personal savior.

@angel:

Faith does not need works to be alive.

Works needs faith to be alive,

Works without faith are dead, dead works.
