I posted this scripture as a refuting of reformed theology as well... as any false doctrine.
It did not meet with agreement to some, sigh, I am saying this to give an illustration of what.
For as long as I can remember This has been my favorite scripture, to spend all your life unto the time you had an encounter with life itself, the spirit of man is hungrer for the truth, and the only satisfaction i coming into the light of the truth and then continuing to walk in the light of the word of God.
To those that are walking in the flesh, after the commnadments of men this is simply one line of scripture, but to he that is a doer of the word it is all inclusive of Genesis to revelation and every word in between is to be treated as the truth,
I gave another example of this context:
Jn 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jn 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Jn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
The calvinist response was you will have to do better than that.
My response was that would be sin to deny the stated truth and would lead to unbelief.
To whoever is a doer of this word:
Will receive eternal life
Will receive reassurance to the one that has already accepted the lord Jesus.
To the hungry heart there is a revealation of the TRUTH, but there is a condition to all that, and it starts with believing the word of God "Thy Truth".
No matter how many times you post articles exposing the man Calvin was Calvinist will disagree, because he and the other reformers are their salvation.
Some one said you mean YOU THINK Calvinist do not have saving faith, of course not, faith comes from the word of God and they do not believe that principle plus their doctrine does not allow the new birth as the word teaches.
This is just A CURRENT DAY EXAMPLE OF IDOLATRY.
NOW FOR THOSE OF US THAT ARE IN cHRIST jESUS WE SHOULD ALL BE PRAYING FOR THEM THAT WILL COME INTO THE TRUTH AND BE DELIVERED FROM THEIR CAPTIVITY.
I was the one that questioned you "are Calvinist saved?", and you sadly answered as I'd hope you wouldn't.
What and who gave you the authority to judge a man's heart who says Jesus is his Lord? Where do you find Scriptural support for labeling people "false" believers because they say that God has mercy on whom He has mercy and He has compassion on whom He has compassion?
Who are you to judge a man who says he believes that Jesus is Lord and fully puts his trust in Him? Where in the Scriptures does it say that a man must believe that His faith comes only from himself and God has no part in it?
When you pray for the lost, do you pray that they would use their heads and make the right decision or do you pray that God would save them?
When you give thanks for your salvation, do you tell God how wise you were in seeing that He is Lord, unlike others, or do you bow your head in humility like the tax-gatherer and say "Lord, be merciful to me, the sinner"?
I would think and hope you would say the latter or you would come across as very self-righteous.
Its ironic and sad that you label "reformers, Calvinists, etc.." as prideful, judgmental people, when we believe that non-monergistic people as yourself, are saved if you confess Jesus as Lord, but you all judge us as going to hell.
I would appreciate clear, accurate Scriptural support if you have it and not some nonsense about "the traditions of men" blanket statement that you hide behind.
Oh, and as a bonus, could you expand on Eph 2:8-9, John 6:44 and 6:65?
I'm quite interested to know what you do with these Scriptures.
