NEWBORN BABIES, WE AREN'T STILL THERE
Posted : 15 Dec, 2011 10:31 AM

Just wanted to share something from my bible study with you.

Im praying the lord bless you with something of this.

I was reading

1 Peter 2:2 "Like newborn babes, long for the pure spiritual milk of the word, that by it you may grow up to salvation"

Why the word compares us as newborn babies?

what special characteristics has a baby?

1- A newborn baby has nothing to treasure.

We are always hoarding many things, such as our cars, houses, jobs, and many things that usually takes our hearts away from the Lord.

Even a 8 years old kid for example, he already has toys and other things that values as preciated.

But a newborn baby doesn't have anything, and the only thing he can desire is the milk to be feeded.

The scriptures say that the first comandment is "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind"

But i cannot love the Lord with all my heart if some part of my heart is filled with my love for other things.

Even my love for the knowledge on the scriptures could be an idol that separates me from the pure love of God.

That`s why we should be like babies than only desire the Lord himself as life trough his holy word.

2- A newborn baby doesn`t worry about how he will get food to eat, or what he can do to obtain it.

He just knows that he is hungry and he must be feeded by his parents.

.....for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Mattew 6:32-33)

Hebrews 13:5 adds: "keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, "I will never fail you nor forsake you."

3- A newborn baby is absolutely dependent of his parents,

he cannot do anything for himself, He need his parents for everything.

John 15:4-5 "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."

On Mattew 21:16 Jesus said 'Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast brought perfect praise'

Is our praise perfect?

we got to admit that our praise is totally imperfect. why?

because we are not newborns yet.

In natural life we are learning to be independent and to do many things by ourselves,

but in spiriutal life we are learning to be dependent on the Lord for everything until we are made newborns.

by not hoarding anything more than the Lord

by being dependent on him for everything we do

and by trusting in him always.

PEACE AND GRACE FROM THE LORD.

We all have the responsibility to function for building up the body (Ephesians 4:16)

1 Corinthians "For you can all prophesy one by one that all may learn and all may be encouraged."

we have to take care of all the brothers and sisters.

"So we who are many are one Body in Christ, and individually members one of another." (Romans 12:5)

And we are put toghether to comfort each other in His love.

(2 Corinthians 1:7)

Im Joyful to participate among all of you.

JESUS IS THE LORD.
