Christians have different gifts, and no one gift should be expected by everyone. I Cor. 12: 29-30
The first one I was in, I was a new Christian and I had already read where Paul SAID that not everyone should be speaking in Tongues because outsiders would think everyone was drunk, etc, and that everything should be done in order, with someone to interpret, etc.
Well in that church EVERYONE was "speaking in tongues" and they even had microphones over the audience, and it was going through the speakers with reverb on it!
Even as a new Christian I was standing there thinking:
"well, these people don't even care what Paul said!"
After being a Christian for 25 years, I think the following:
1. there is no speaking in foreign languages you don't understand, because the supernatural gifts ended with the Apostles.
2. The Christians that do this are just emotionally driven, which means their emotions are in the drivers seat.
3. The churches where this goes on, ignore church history because they KNOW they believe things that most Christians for the last two thousand years did not believe.
Yes, there are certainly some churches that are filled with true Christians who do this, but they are STILL wrong for doing it, and it is only a symptom of the rest of the bad theology they undoubtedly believe in.
That is interesting you been in 6 different churches like that.
I have not been in any churches like that.
Although, I have been in one that was Pentecostal where
there is was Prophesy when someone spoke in tongues in the congregation. Now this is Biblical.
I do not like people speaking without an interpreter because that i not Biblical, if you are in Church and to edify the Church.
I believe in tongues , because have the "Holy Spirit" and it
gives to me to know the truth.
I believe what the Word says; and it says that tongues are still in the church and will not cease until Jesus comes; that is when we will be Complete.
Note; I realize everything some Christian people do is not always Biblical but if you have the HOLY SPIRIT it will lead you in All walks of truth. That is why Christ said there will be a Comforter to come to Us, after he asended to Heaven.
Speaking in tounges to God without an interpreter is ok if your praying to God why would you need an iterpreter, that is not the same as the gift of tounges that needs interpretation which is also a gift!
These are 2 different things, however James I have nevr heard of any crazyness like that wher they are putting mirophones and speaking into them! I belonged to a huge church in panama city which I still attend when I visit there but anytime a message was spoken in tounges they did not need a microphone, God does not need any help we all could hear what was said just fine!
Ther are most definatly decieved people who are working on emotion and what their flesh wants to happen this is satan fooling people!

*** Wrong ???...says who ???...GOD doesnt say its Wrong...GOD's Word says they will Cease when Perfection Comes...and thats in Referance to Christ Jesus Second Comming....Until a person truely Witness a Prophesy given in Tounge and Interpreted for the Edification of the Church they will NOT Truely BELIEVE...just as the Pharasees sought for a Sign and IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM...same thing applies today and in todays times...xo
Yep Jude, you know what this sounds silly but whenI first got saved I thought how easy it would be for people to fake that manifestation of the interpritation so I would try in my head to make up someting without any warning or really thining about it and comeup with something of any depth and meaning at all!:ROFL:OH boy:ROFL::ROFL:
What foolishness would come out of my mouth if I tried to interpret something I do not have that gift but i have witnessed it, and trust me if its real you will know if you are as foolish as I am to try to test yourself to see if you could come up with these things that are interpreted then you would see!
Now I have seen some displays that I think were flesh but I may have been wrong I would never point it out or discuss it thta would not be aporpriat however I have witnessed many times an message given that you know for sure it was gGod there is no doubt!
And I have more than once had someone grad a hold of me when the message was being given and it was obviouse it was intended for me. a personal message from God to me!

The bible says that these things will seem like fooloishness to men! Thats what I think that men dont understand becasue tey cant! In fact I think thats what the scripture the calvinist use to prove that The Spirit just comes alive in those that are chosen that natural man cant understand spiritual things I am not sure ogf the exact scripture but I do know that people who are not spirit filled can not understand these thingsnow thats not to say that there are not fakes and certainly satanic spirits counterfiting thats the way it works God does something great and satan imitates it!
Anyway I am rambling but I just wish everyone could know what I know and see what I see!

In fact whenI stared going to the local assembly of God church with my daddy I was a teenager and very rebelouse I had been raisedin a babtist church and I though these peoiple were nutty as fruit cakes! THis is what my daughter thinks about me too
