movies, tv and secular music please give me your opinion

I personaly dont go to the movies nor watch much tv, I never ever listen to secular music!
My reasons behind this is that I feel like we should protect our eyes and ears to keep evil out!
It is my beliefe that the way something gets into your heart is first in your eyes then to your head and then your heart1 So if we are listening to ungodly music or watching movies full of ugly words and naked people and dirty scenes and inuendo those things will get into our eyes and ears and then our head and from our head the next sop is our heart and thats where acction begins is in our heart!
A christian man looking at a movie with half dresed girls in it, may start letting his eyes wander in real life, then eevetualy his lust will overtake his self control and he will sin first chance he got! If we make sure that the things (that we can control)
that get into our sences that are godly and not obscene then we will have better control over our desires and actions!

Thats true Elisha, however, I believe in balance, and not taking it to either extreme. I am not against listening to secular music, however, don't make a habit of it. I occasionally watch movies and tv, however, prefer christian based programs. It is true whatever you fill your mind with will be more of what you think about, and the word says for me to "guard my heart, that I might not sin against thee".

I have to agree with Shalom on this one.
I have some secular music that I listen to, but I have gotten rid of most of the stuff with negative themes. Not all secular music goes against what God's word says. I also balance it out and actually most (like 90%) of what I listen to is Christian music. It's all about balance and understanding my limits. I personally had to learn that because in Middle School and early High School I listened to a lot of the Heavy Rock music, and Punk rock, which isn't all bad but there were some songs I listened to A LOT that were horrible for me and made my very negative about my life. I had to remove that from my life and now, most of it I don't even go near because it brings back those negative feelings too quickly.
As for movies and TV... there are a lot of things out now that are horrible. I really do think it has to do with tolerance levels, personalities, and again balance. I had a point in High School where I would watch the local news every morning before school. I had to quit for a while because I started becoming very negative about people in general and resented being around people. There have been a lot of movies that I've just chosen not to watch, because of their explicit nature as well... but I think that some times, if it's just one or two scenes, you can look away (if you have that kind of control.)
It's all about moderation and being mindful of the balance.

I dont always think that as far as music goes that it is about the content, its about how it makes you feel, and I dont mean feeling angry or negative, for the most part I mean music stirs up desires in us that should never be stirred, I know I heard a song on the radio a country song I was in a car with someone elase and it was a song about a guy wanting a girl to dance for him, it was very ungodly on the country station however by the time I heard the whgole song I could feel my flesh being astirred up to want to dance or go to a club, of corse I am much stronger than that however and I didnt actuly want to , I am strong enough now to recognize those types of eelings and fight against them and tune them out, in fact if I feel that way its very negative for me now, where I used to think it was a good feelinyour gut that makes you want to dance or get in a big truck with a boy and ride the dirt roads drink beer and listen to loud country music, I used to like that feeling I hate it now and I avoid it, A love song that may have nothing to do with sex or lust or drinkng may make me feel lie I want to be in love and could be the begining of stirring me to do something I shouldnt and thats think and make desesions with my heart or my flesh! I may choose to date or marry someone that isnt who God has for me, not becaue of one song but because I have opened myself up to feeling thoe feelings!
Let me just say this one last thing when dealing with music we must remember that satan uses music to stir us up to sin, if a song can stir your emotions in such a way towards the lord that you feel like lifting your hands and praising him pr tears stream down your face out of overwhelming love for him, then isnt it safe to say that music that doesnt gloriy God can be dangerous dont yall think that it can stir us up to do things we shouldnt or wouldnt do otherwise!
I may have said this on here beore but an example is this, when I was younger and maybe my girlfriends wantd to go out to the clubs and I didnt really want to go or I was tired my answer was to put on my prince cd and by the time little red corvette came on I was rareing to go!
Also maybe my house was a mes and I knew I had to get it cleaned up, well my answer to that was billy joels greates hits, nothing like uptown girl or keeping the faith to make you wanna scrub the toiles!
That being said neither one of those albums had anything to do with what they stirred me up to do!
Billy loel never sang a song called lets w2ash the dishes and prince never said hey girl put your makeup on and get dressed to go out, but they still stired me up inside to do those things.
They changed my mood and that is witchcraft!
It is manipulation which is definatly classified as witchcraft and that makes it a sin! I am not acusing anyone else of sin, I am just trying to make you aware saten has a way of blinding us and I dont want anyone to be blind to something that I see clearly, however just because it is clear to me, doesnt mean you will see right away if you continue in the faith you will se it one day !
Be very careful what you put in ypur eyes and ears asit will get into your head then your heart then you will act on it!
Not evil the way the world thinks about evil, like hurting people or saying cus words but filthy communicactions and lusts are the biggest things we must be mindful of!
