The forum is for "Bible Discussion and questions".
The showing of Love and respect should already be in the minds of the followers of Christ here who post in it. I've not seen it here since I've first joined of posted in this forum from all the regulars (save a few) yet.
I doubt tht most of these people have even been to other forums (except this site) enough to know what respect, love, and unemotional responses are towards other topics, posters, and participator of any such thing because of the poor "etiquette" displayed thus far.
But this, like all other posts during and after it, is all subjective to one's interpretation.

It was love that said, thus still says the word of God is of no private interpretation and when you have those that ignore this truth they walk away from the love of God, They walk away from the truth, They walk away from the gift of truth given to the church The Holy Spirit.
Those that do so will find what they cal the love of God but it will only be a counterfeit, for there is no counterfeit's or opinion's of the truth in the kingdom of God.
We should be here to build one another up, those that want to walk in truth.

Your post and reply seem ok,yet there are many which have hardened themselves against the truth,in order to hold onto the teachings of men.
When a person brings the Word of YHWH to this forum,those holding to mens teaching rail against the truth bearers thus they are the ones which bring strife and division to this site.
Then the ones holding to mens teachings trash the truth bearers and try to rally others to their side.
Had these strife bearers actually read and studied the posted Word of YHWH,maybe they might learn something and find that they have been believing the teachings of men,and not the Word of YHWH.
The Word of YHWH will have at least two responses in man.
1.Man will be convinced of their need of Trusting Yeshua to save them from the wrath of YHWH against their sin(s).
This is the work of the Holy SPirit and the Word of YHWH in man.
2.Man will be convinced of their need of trusting Yeshua to save them from the wrath of YHWH against their sin(s),yet man will still not trust Yeshua to save them.
This too is the work of the YHWH,to harden man against the Gospel.
Rom 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Rom 9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
Rom 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
Rom 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
Rom 9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
Rom 9:19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
Rom 9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
Rom 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
The Gospel on this site also hardens people and convinces people of their need of trusting Yeshua.

What I observed is that we try to DO THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. He is the TEACHER.
Our Job is to plant the seed, THE HOLYSPIRIT GIVES REVELATION, he waters it and make it grow.
2 Timothy 2:14 "Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle with words, which is useless, and leads to the ruin the hearers"
The word of God is true, If we operate by 2 Timothy 2:14 we will win more souls for Christ than trying to convince others about what we believe
We don't need to defend the truth, the truth stands on His own. We come from different denominations, but in Christ there is no denomination but ONE BODY. And each of us are part of that body. We have different talents that we bring to the body we must recognized what that talent is and use it to edify the body. The eye cannot do the work of the
mouth, know your calling and operate within that perimeter,
The Bible says we SHOULD CARRY EACH OTHERS BURDEN, AND PRAY FOR EACH OTHER.
The forum is a great oppoetunity to Edify the body of Christ,
with our current behaviour we are not helping or carrying each others burden but destroying one another and we are not being a light in the midst of darkness.
We need to humble ourselves before God can exalt us, Humility is Christ.

1. Is it to learn from each other and help each other showing the love of Christ?
There is not many who can learn anything from on this site, unless you want to learn how to act pridefully. They try to prove themselves holier than thou, and work there way to heaven. There is not any christian unity here.
2. Is it a place of showing how much we Know without the love of Christ which shows we know nothing?.
The love of Christ is definitely the last thing you could take away from this group, they say they have the love of Christ, but the fruit there of is lacking.
3. Is it a place to edify one another or a place to tear each other down?.
There is no edification here. Hope you belong to a bible preaching loving church. This is a viper pit.

dj,
Does it have to be a vipers pit, or a place to teach, learn about the love of Christ and what he has done and continue to do for us and help save some souls?.
Obviously, we are preaching ourselves instead of Christ, that is why you discribe it as a viper pit, it looks and sound like one.

It does not have to be a vipers pit, but as it says in the bible there will never be unity among the believer and unbeliever. So this will never be anything but truth vs non truth.
God will never be glorified in such a place, and that is the chief end of man to glorify God and enjoy him forever.

James replies:
I am not seeing that at all.
I think we are helping each other, or at least some are helping those want to grow in their understanding, and trying to help even those who refuse.
In case you are one of those "Christians should not debate so much" people, that is your culture speaking and not Scripture.
This forum is specifically for that kind of thing.
