Matthew 7:21-22 Lord, Lord, have we not done many...

....Wonderful WORKS in your name?

A. I. T. (Agape International Translation)

Question:

If Christ, the Lord doesn't consider WORKS to be important in one's declaration of faith in Christianity; why should this be such a heated discussion amongst believers all the time?

Any thoughts?

It should be front and center!

The doctrine of Justification by faith alone is the CENTER of the Christian faith!!!!

The verse you just quoted was Jesus telling us that many people who have rejected trusting in Jesus, and instead TRUST IN THEIR OWN WORKS, will be rejected by Jesus on Judgment Day!

Every false religion in the world says basically the same thing.

Do good deeds and you will be one with the universe, be right with God, or the gods, or become a god yourself etc.

ONLY Christianity says that you can NOT be good enough, and the sins you have already committed MUST be paid for.

Ask the average non-Christian in America the following two questions:

1. If you died tonight, do you think you would go to heaven?

2. If you DID die tonight, and God said to you, "why should I let you into my Heaven?" What would you say?

Most people would say "Yes, I think so" to the first question.

And then, if you ask them the second question, they will start naming off good things they have done, and bad things they have not done!

They have rationalized that God grades on a curve, and they have done some good deeds in their life, so, they reason, they are going to heaven!!!

Believe me, no Christian would EVER go up to Jesus on Judgment Day and start naming off a list of supposed good deeds!!!!

We will fall at his feet and cry, and say thankyou over and over, but we would NEVER EVEN THINK of rattling off a list of supposed good deeds!!

In Christ,

James

Matthew 7:21-22

From The Interlinear Bible:

Many will say to me in that day,Lord,Lord 'NOT' in YOUR name did we prophesy, and in your name demons cast out,and in YOUR name works of power many we performed?

And then I will declare to them,NEVER I knew you;depart from Me,those working lawlessness.

The reason these works were called LAWLESSNESS,they were not done in or to the name of Yeshua.

Let us discern then, are what we doing from YHWH,or for YHWH.

Shalom

amen james, Thats right, people dont say well I deserve heaven they think hey I have noy been so bad that I deserve hell! They dont think they deserve hell, they say well I have never killed anyone and I try to help people if I can!

Thats why my pastor says the hardest part about someone becomeing saved is becoming lost, they never ever see the need for the Lord and till they do they will never produce anyhting but death!

And this scripture is refering to those who clean up their rotten old flesh and say look lord at how good i been at how good I am , look at me I gave to thge poor and was a foster parent, but they mostly did it so others MEN would see them and think they are good, but if they arent doing the lords work, if they arent doing Gods will out of love for and a relationship with Him then they have done nothing just like abraham and hagar produced ishmael!

GOd himself produced Isaac!

Thats the difference isaac and ishmael!

It is not of Works if it is of faith.

The question is why would anyone make such a statement and say they are a christian.
