Posted : 14 Jan, 2012 05:12 PM There is a common misconception that the "antichrist" of the Bible is somehow going to come in the future as: The Devil taking political control of the world through the United Nations. A future US president. A supernatural being. A religious figure coming from the middle east who first promotes Christianity and then completely opposes Him and his teachings. There are several other variations of this belief, but let us examine some facts about the word antichrist, what it means when it is mentioned in the Bible. The word "antichrist" is only found in 4 passages. These passages are within the books of First John and Second John. 1 John 2:18-19, 2:22-23, 1 John 4:2-3, and 2 John 1:7. All were written by Apostle John. "Antichrist" is not found even once in the book of Revelation. The word antichristos (ἀντίχριστος) from which our English word "antichrist" is a simple compound word and means "anti" + "Christ" = "antichrist". Anti simply means opposed, or against. Christ simply is the Greek work christos that means Messiah (from the Hebrew Scriptures). Anti-Christ" is anyone who opposes Christ. Any questions? 1Jn 2:18-19 ESV Children, it IS THE LAST HOUR, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so NOW MANY ANTICHRISTS HAVE COME. Therefore we know that IT IS THE LAST HOUR. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. This THIS IS THE SPIRIT OF THE ANTICHRIST, which you heard was coming and AND NOW IS IN THE WORLD ALREADY. QUESTION: Who is the Bible identifying as antichrist? When will the antichrist come? Posted : 14 Jan, 2012 06:55 PM The bible is full of types and shadows, the antichrist is no different, there has been types of antichrist just like there were types and shadows od Jesus, he will be tan imposter and people will believe he is a savior which will make him satans imposter! The man of sin who wil set up the abomination that maketh desolate! We dont have to call him antichrist however there wil be one who makes a treaty with israel, that is whats been believed for as long as I can remember, whether he is called antichrist or not he makes a 7 year treaty and half way through it he breaks it! I read the Scriptures and see that there is no certain man to come today or in the future. The Scriptures were pretty clear and concise as to who this man was. Daniel wrote of this happening in Jesus' day. Jesus also put that event within the generation of His disciples. History even records this event as happening and the 70th week as being fulfilled. Besides, there is no verse in the Bible that says that the temple will be built again, so I highly doubt this thing coming into fruition as the new ideology says it does. Posted : 14 Jan, 2012 07:22 PM Definition: antichrist, either one who puts himself in the place of, or the enemy (opponent) of the Messiah. 500 ant�xristos (from 473 /ant�, "opposite to, in place of" and 5547 /Xrist�s, "Christ") � properly, opposite to Christ; someone acting in place of (against) Christ; "Antichrist." This sounds like many politicians,and many in the 'church'. ME: Brother, George. Whoever this is it isn't the "church" as we know it because this "in place of" definition is not meaning by taking the place of. It means it by way of being opposed or against in a blatant stance. there is no appearance of, or deception to being related to the Christ in the word anti. Anti is pretty clear. Posted : 15 Jan, 2012 05:47 AM PJ, can you point out these few who don't believe that Jesus came in the flesh, is the Son of God, deny Him as being the Christ, or being come from the Father, and deny that the very existence of Jesus is fake according to the definition of the verses speaking of the antichrists? Are you saying that there are atheists and secular people on this site or are you speaking of someone you may know that is close to you? It seems as if you like to cause strife and accuse the brethren by your blatant disregard for Scripture by coming into topics and saying things contrary to God. Why are you being so contentious, brother? The position of the accuser of the brethren has already been filled, PJ. You still may not have the job no matter how hard you try to show how qualified you are at it. As a brother in Christ, I would strongly urge you to give your unconfessed anger and resentment to God and ask Him to give you a new loving heart, bro, because this bitterness you seem to exude will eat you up and make you blind to the truth. ME: And yet you see nothing but manipulation in the simple posts that i made regarding Scripture while you disregard the simplicity of what they say about the antichrist and refuse to see the correct view of it, brother PJ. But as the Scriptures say, "As a man thinks, so is he." So keep on thinking what you wish, PJ. No man can change your heart other than the Son of Man in whom I urge you to plead to.
