Number 1. As you should know typically speaking definitions are usages of words' at different times in history, such as in this case, you put the heart and mind together. the bible separates them.

Number 2. For you to be right the bible has to be wrong, man according to you is a mind and not made in the image and likeness of God, the bble clearly declares man is a spirit being, that has a soul and lives in a body.

Number 3. According to you man is a mind and the new man in Christ is a mind and not a man. That is very interesting to call man a mind.

Number 4. The bible declares the word of God is spirtiually discerned, you declare it is mentally discerned.

Now let us look at man according to the word of God and the mind of man.

Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

We see here that the new man is to renew his mind and this same instruction is found in Romans 12:22

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We know by study of this context that the mind is to be continually renewed, the mind of man part of his soul is not changed in the new birth only his spirit is new.

We also find this truth in the 23rd ps and James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls

The soul- the mind will and emotions is not saved.

The New Man in Christ Jesus:

1st Peter 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Notice in this verse the heart is man's spirit, which is the consistent pattern thru out scripture the heart of man and spirit are interchangeable.

Ro 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

I the inward man delight with the law or word of God.

2Co 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

The bible declares the inward man is renewed daily.

Remember we are to renew our mind, that is the inward man the Spirit of man renews his mind, that he "the spirit" of man may find, determine the will of God.

The bible is very clear that faith is planted and born out of the heart of man, never the mind.

Man believes the word of God with the heart as taught.

If you will study you will clearly see the distinction of mind and heart.

The spirit filled believer that stays filled with the spirit knows where the heart, the center of man is.

Jn 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

Jn 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

The bible is very clear to all that have an ear to hear and eyes to see.

God's word will transform our mind, will and emotions, by meditating on His word we are conformed into the image of the son. I think of it as the Holy Spirit being like a candle in our spirit and as we submit to G-d, the Holy Spirit takes over more of our body as we submit, he can take over our mind, will and emotions. The Holy Spirit is like fire and burns up the chaff, just like the sacrifice was placed on the altar and was burned, so are we the living sacrifice and the sin is burned within us by the Holy Spirit.
