I have so much to share, but I do not want to bore others with so much detail. The state of the church here in Europe weighs heavy upon my heart because it is so sad to see a godless country. I never knew how blessed I was while living in the States and being able to be a member of a church where preaching was exceptional. I really miss the preaching, but my husband and I are able to download sermons. This is where we get our spiritual food from besides our personal devotions and family worship. The churches that call themselves churches (which are few and far between) are not .....they do not hold to any confessions and they are implementing into their worship service modern day songs and choruses. Several of them have charismatic leanings. One church that my husband and I attended while trying to find a church called themselves and the pastor said he was , but during one of his sermons he stated he believed that speaking in tongues were for today. During another sermon he said he believed people could die, go to heaven and be given a choice by God whether or not they wanted to come back to earth. He had one man who had this so called experience come and speak in the church. My husband and I now attend a Free Presbyterian church of Scotland and they hold to the Westminster confession, but they have some customs that we are not in agreement with. This is the best church we have here in England and we travel over 1 hour to get there. There are only 3 Free Presbyterian churches in England. The church we attend has not had a pastor since it began over 30 years ago and the denomination needs over 13 pastors to fill empty pulpits. There is a huge shortage of pastors in the UK!!! I would encourage Christians in America to humble themselves before God, live a holy life both in public and in PRIVATE. Pray for your pastors, elders, and deacons. The preaching is not here in England, therefore, the people are not being fed. Pray for your pastors that they preach the whole counsel of God without heresy and that they have adequate time to study and prepare for their sermons. Also pray for your elders and deacons for Satan would love to get at these men and see them fall. They are your spiritual leaders and if they fall then the congregation is in trouble. Pray that God would deliver them from the temptation of pride especially and that they would be humble in serving the congregation. Over here Christians do not take their walk with God seriously. The are one thing at home and another thing at church. If the church is declining then there goes society. I've seen men treat women differently over here (not in a good sense) and this is because we live in a socialist country where men and women are treated equal....YUCK!!! I want to be treated like a lady, but over here you will very rarely have men open doors for women and women/children are left to defend themselves most of the time. I can go on and on about how the church over here is non-existent and you see the effects of it all around you, but I will stop there. I just want to plead with Christians in America to be thankful for the solid RCUS and pray for this denomination that it will not compromise God's Word. Also families please teach your children that God is priority by taking family worship, catechism, and church attendance seriously for they are the next generation. We need to be raising a godly seed to keep the doctrines pure. Tammy Irving Sound alot like the way American churches are headed. Come quickly Lord Jesus Post Reply

Posted : 2 Feb, 2012 02:01 PM Hummm...Ya some "Churches" are...well...ya know...:rolleyes:...Catholic...Protestant...Lutherian...Methodist...Baptist...etc...etc...etc...And people...well...ifin a person is In-Debt...has a TV bigger than 19"'s...a Cell Phone that gets I-Net...On-Star in yer car...etc...etc....etc...ya done already been Swollowed by the World...and ya dont even gota be a "Church" goer...Go Figer eh ???...:ribbit: Post Reply
