Walking In Love

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal" (1 Cor. 13:1 NKJV).

There are nine ingredients found in your life when you are a person that is walking in love. It is important to have these attributes in order to walk in the fullness of God's will. And so today we want to strive for God's best rather than to settle for less.

The nine ingredients are as follows: patience, kindness, generosity, honor, courtesy, unselfishness, temperament, righteousness, and sincerity.

When you evaluate your own life, what is it that you see? Can it be said about you that you possess the love of God? Purpose today to have these godly attributes permeate your being that you may live a life pleasing to God. You see, God is love, and He is all that love is.

We generally come to First Corinthians chapter 13 and talk about love. Indeed it does talk about the God kind of love that we are to operate in. However, we must take chapter 13 in context with the entire book of First Corinthians in order to get a clearer understanding of the wonderful love of God.

So, remember that First Corinthians is a letter. Don't take one piece of the letter out and make a doctrine out of it. Anybody knows that you have to read the whole letter to understand what the writer is saying.

In Chapter 12, the writer, Paul, talks about spiritual gifts, things of the Holy Ghost. He then goes down to verse 25 and picks up a theme he has been talking about since chapter 1, "there shall be no schisms (or divisions) in the body of Christ, but that the members should have the same care one for another" (1:3).

Operating in envy, strife, and divisions is not walking in love. They are babies who walk in such things. Paul said, are you not carnal and walk as men, or walk as mere unchanged men. So he is going to continue, and then move on to various aspects of the church. Then finally, he is going to tie it all together towards the end of his letter.

So I encourage you today to find out what God has to say concerning the necessity of walking in love. Read the whole chapter to get the full context of God's love. Then you can become more effective in your life as a believer. Become a person that is a love person. Become a person who is like God.
