He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world

Ephesians 1: 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:

2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,

10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth--in Him.

11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

praise God He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world for His glory

I LOVE the epistle to the Ephesians! It is SO descriptive of the mystery that has been revealed in us, His beloved wife, the church.

1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Great word, sister Donna!

Are you asking because you don't know, PJ, or are you asking to be contentious, brother?

Because all you have to do is read it in order to know that " In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth--in Him."

Faith is never contentious.

Contention is always the product of unbelief.

Revealtion will never come to the mind, all that can happen by reading is the renewing of the mind assuming one agrees with the word.

The answer will come to he that is the doer of the word as in this chapter and the third chapter.

Remember the contention is in the unbelief always.

Well, since you asked the question, I guess revelation still hasn't come to you yet, but I trust that it will, my brother. As a matter of fact, I know it. Scripture says that all you need to do is to ask the Lord for wisdom and He will give it as long as he asks in faith and does not doubt, brother (Ja. 1:5-6). So, I urge you to ask Him, brother.

May the lord continue to be a constant thirst that never ceases to be lacking in you, brother.

Now that was contention on your part, Agapeton and strong arrogance, love would never say that, love always believes the best.

This and the 3rd chapter are prayers and the mo9st of the epistle is of the revelation to Paul of spiritual authority, the body of Christ that is.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despite fully use you, and persecute you. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and unjust"Mt 5:44-45. What our Lord is telling His disciples that if you do these things you will be like your Father which is in Heaven. The standart that God demands of His people is nothing less than the perfect character of God Himself. It includes far more tham simple justice. God's perfection includes the love of benevolent grace v45, Although perfection is not attainable in this life, it is never the less the goal of those who have become children of the Father. The whole Idea being taught in these scriptures is not only what our actions are to be, but who we learn them from. Its clear to me that our Father wants us to be like Him, so if He's telling me ro be this way, then I think its pretty safe to assume that our Father is like this also. The argument has been whether it is grace when He deals with the reprobate, loving an enemy that sounds like a reprobate. Grace brethren as we know is unmerited favor, "Not earned" "Not owed" but given for God's owe personal purpose. How can we say that God doesn't do this, looks like grace to me..

"Now that was contention on your part, Agapeton and strong arrogance, love would never say that, love always believes the best."

This is hypocritical at best.

Agapeton, praise God for you brother. Revelation can come through reading of the word. That should be clear unless you don't know what revelation means.

I would also ask what the context here would do to change the meaning of him choosing us in him before the foundation of the world. I fail to see how this is some reformed twisting of scripture, when only the scripture was posted.

It is very simple he choose all, you believe he did not.

The truth will never change the provision and substitution was for all of mankind.

All must make their choice to accept the Truth, the Lord Jesus.

One more point the application of the theory of regeneration then faith is the exact opposite of faith.
