2 Thessalonians 2 :1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,

2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.

3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?

6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,

12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,

14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.

16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace,

17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

To all those free willers out there, HOW is it you choose when God very simply says 13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, ?????

They say that God chose them because He foreknew some decision they would make...even though the text doesn't say that. It's just man's desire for God to be "fair".

It's amazing to me that verses can so plainly speak the truth and people try to explain them away. Then verses that don't at all teach against the doctrines of grace are used as proof texts against them. All we have to do is let the word speak.

*** Dont know why this post is addressed to freewill of people or people that believe in freewill of people when 2 Thess 2 is Not about the will of a personits aboutApostasy; the man of sin, choosing deception

13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

13 - Give thanks for you ~ In contrast to those who refused truth.

13 - Chosen ~ This verse may appear to teach God's arbitrary determination of our destiny. But notice that the selection is through "belief in the truth." Some, however, refuse to accept a love for truth as in verse 10. Although God has chosen us from the beginning, not all will accept. Our destiny is not arbitrary.

13 - From the beginning ~ 1 John 1:1, Rev 13:8b, Eph 1:3f

13 - Through sanctification ~ Chould read "in sanctification." This is the work of the Holy Spirit and is based on truth John 17:17.

*** Hope this is Helpfulxo

Of course not everyone believes, however the ones specifically called in verse 13 are the believers. They are addressed as brethren. It says "you were chosen" to salvation. It doesn't say everyone was chosen to salvation "but you accepted". If the bible does teach that all were chosen, it certainly doesn't say it here in verse 13.

No I didnt say anything about "everyone being chosen to salvation" nor does the verse say that...where in God's sight do you get that from ???...

I would truely appreciate it if in the future you both would simply read what I post and not be assuming ima saying something other than what I am saying...that is called "mis-representation" and kidlet HOH...you already know what that is...and it just aint right...

You both automaticlly put me into a catagory of division before doing the research of what I presented...SOooo...with that being said...I leave you both with each other...after all...3 is a crowd...right ???...xo

Stop adding to and twisting what God says to prove you god.

I'm sorry if I misrepresented you. Let me show you why that might have happened. You said this...

"Although God has chosen us from the beginning, not all will accept."

I assumed that you meant God has chosen all to salvation. Will you please clarify who the "us" is? Us cannot refer to believers because believers are those who HAVE accepted. Does God choose some who will believe and some who will never believer? This is why I assumed you meant God chose all. I hope this helps.

I know you said you will leave us here alone but I would really hope you could clarify here. From your statement, there are only a couple options. 1. God chose some to salvation but not all accept. 2. God chose all to salvation but some do not accept.

If #1 is correct then you agree that God only chose some to salvation. If #2 is correct then you believe that God chose all to salvation.

Seeing as how we know you don't believe that God only chose some to salvation, then it wouldn't be crazy to think you were implying God chose everyone would it?
