Prophet, Priest and King

To cure the ignorance, guilt and tyranny of sin, the threefold office of a Mediator was required. As prophet, Christ cured us from the ignorance of sin, shining light into the darkness. As priest, Christ cured us from the guilt of sin, reconciling God and the sinner. As king, Christ cured us from the tyranny of sin, removing the slavery of sin. As Mediator, Jesus Christ, revealed God to us, reconciled God and us, and rules over us. In gratitude we ought to meditate on His word, strive to imitate Christ and rejoice under His rule.
