The Function of the Moral Law In Romans 7

Romans 7: 9-14: "For I was alive without the law once: but when the

commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

10. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

11. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by

it slew me.

12. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

13. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But

sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is

good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

14. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin."

Romans 7: 24-25 "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from

the body of this death?

25. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind

I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."

The moral law's function is to convict us of our sin, to show us that

we are sinners before a righteous God. The moral law convicts us of

sin and shows us that we need Christ to forgive our sins and redeem us

from them, to put us under his blood, so that we are not judged as

sinners with many others.

The moral law was not done away with, because God is a righteous God,

and we are flesh. The ceremonial law, as a number of shadows pointing

to Christ as the substance, was done away with when Jesus died on the

Cross, and physical Israel was transformed then and on the Day of

Pentecost. In Genesis 3: 1-6 Satan deceived Eve and Adam followed,

giving Satan some dominion over man's flesh, and so now our

flesh wars against the Spirit. "For the flesh lusteth against the

Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the

one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

Galatians 5:17

"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:

for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because

they are spiritually discerned." I Corinthians 2; 14

But what Paul in Romans 7 is leading up to is Romans 8. "There is

therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who

walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me

free from the law of sin and death.

3. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the

flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and

for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:.....Because the carnal mind is

enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither

indeed can be.

8. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the

Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of

Christ, he is none of his." Romans 8: 1-3, 8-9.

As Christ told the Pharisee Nicodemus in John 3; 1-6, you must be

born again by the Holy Spirit to see the spiritual kingdom of God.

When you are led by the Spirit, who will not disobey the moral law,

and he is in your heart and mind, then there is no more condemnation

for you from the moral law.

The moral law still exists to convict us of sin. When we are

convicted of sin and repent, we can receive the Holy Spirit. But

without the moral law being still in effect, and our being broken by

it before a righteous God, we cannot receive the Spirit and have the

moral law in our hearts and mind to obey it. We must repent of sin

before God and turn from it.

Under the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31: 31, Hebrews 8: 10), we have the

moral law in ourselves and the desire to obey it, and by help from the

Lord, if we need that.

But in the dialectic church, where the majority are tares, not many

are born again, though they may think they are because they attend

church. Their church may mix some flesh, as Dean Gotcher would say,

some dopamine, with the word of God - in order to increase the number

of church members. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter in the human brain

which is involved in the experience of pleasure. The problem is that

pleasure from fleshly things wars against the Spirit. When we have

the Spirit, we may also have the joy of the Lord, which replaces the

pleasures of the flesh.

Dopamine - the neurotransmitter in the human brain that is involved in pleasure - is not in scripture. But the lust of the flesh is there. "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." I John 2: 15-16

In other words, the world is interested, above all, in the things of the flesh.

Some people in the dialectic church seem to think that as long as they avoid sex, they are not in sin by having the lust of the flesh. But flesh in I John 2: 16 means much more than sex; as the text says the "pride of life" is also part of the flesh that the world upholds as being so important, and this is self-esteem, and not of the Father. If you avoid sex and make self-esteem important as almost everyone does, you are still operating in the flesh.

What does Dean Gotcher mean by the "dialectic church?" The dialectic church is not defined as just a church that makes use of the Hegelian and Marxist dialectic - developed in the U.S. by the Group Dynamics, Encounter Group and group psychotherapy movements by psychologists - as a deceptive attitude and belief change procedure. But the dialectic is that too. First of all, the dialectic, from Marx and then from Marx joined to Freud by the Frankfurt School, is a paradigm, or a starting philosophy, doctrine or structure for everyone to live by. It begins by saying that the patriarchal paradigm that underlines both the Gospel of Christian faith and the family causes fascism and must be eliminated over time by the "long march through the institutions," with the attack upon the absolute truth and absolute morality of the Christian faith being first of all to undermine and change into a dialectic paradigm, where sound doctrine is replaced by false doctrine and church Christians dialogue to consensus in groups (the congregation and small groups) under a facilitator trained in the seminaries. And - "it is written" by the Holy Spirit as authority is replaced by "what do you think," "what is your opinion," and "how do you feel." Some flesh is mixed in with "worship" and the facilitator tries to make everyone feel good and attains pleasure (Gotcher's dopamine) in being a part of the group. A vital part of the dialectic attitude change procedure is to create a cohesive group, so that the facilitator (group leader) can use group acceptance or group rejection of a member to change that member's beliefs.

So the dialectic is a paradigm or starting doctrine which, in effect, says that man is flesh and the dialectic accepts that flesh. Humanism existed as a system that exaulted the flesh before Transformational Marxism arrived in the early fifties in America. The dialectic as a part of Transformational Marxism comes out of a doctrine that says man is only flesh, and that as Marx said, religion is the opiate of the people, or an illusuion. Marxism is atheism, though when it became a "Christian dialectic" that atheism was hidden from view and what was attacked is sound Christian doctrine and sound interpretration of that doctrine. And absolute morality was threatened by Transformational Marxism in the dialectic church.

Dean Gotcher has talked a little about how some drugs, cocaine, heroin and meth-amphetamine, act upon the dopamine receptors in the lower parts of the human brain to bring on feelings of pleasure. But these drugs, especially meth-amphetamine, also act to deplete the brain of dopamine and produce a "down" state in which the drug addict is even more likely to engage in violence toward objects and others. Meth-amphetamine though, as a drug that acts upon dopamine, is only the extreme edge of that society in America which has a love affair with the flesh, with the Apostle John's lust of the flesh.

An interesting point is that many meth-amphetamine addicts suffer from brain dysfunction which can be caused, at least in part, by the huge number of vaccinations given by medical doctors to very young children.

See: http://www.whale.to/vaccines/coulter5.html

"Vaccination programs were instituted in the late 1930s, and the first handful of autistic babies were noted in the early 1940s. When vaccination programs were expanded after the war, the number of autistic children increased greatly. As the children of the first vaccinated generation (born in 1945) reached the age of eight or nine (in the 1950s) it was f...ound that they could not read. This problem has continued to worsen until today about 20% of American school children are thought to have learning disabilities, hyperactivity, and associated developmental disabilities."

My comment: Autism is a form of mental retardation.

"And when these same children grew up and took college entrance examinations, or examinations for military service at age l8 (for children born in 1945 this occurred in 1963), their IQ scores were found to be lower, and these scores have been declining steadily ever since. The scores on tests taken by high-school seniors to enter college were, in the early 1960s: 466 for verbal skills and 492 for mathematical. Today they are 424 for verbal skills and 476 for mathematics; the American IQ is lower now than it was in the early 1940s, and it may be even worse than the statistics indicate, since there is some evidence that the tests have been made easier than they used to be.

"As this same generation went on into early adulthood, it created and has maintained the present historically high incidence of violent crime. Violent crime (murder, rape, aggravated assault) started to rise in the early 1960s and is still on the rise today."

"A large body of research has been done on the neurologic status of persons involved in violent crime. They are seen to have a very high incidence of typical post-encephalitic conditions: low IQ, hyperactivity, allergies, mental retardation, and seizure disorders. "

"At least two routes connect the post-encephalitic adolescent with alcoholism and/or drug abuse. (1) These individuals, as already noted, suffer from anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem and are thus naturally inclined to indulge in these various forms of escape. (2) There are numerous programs in U.S. schools today calling for the drug treatment of children with such conditions as hyperactivity, attention-span difficulties, and learning disabilities; approximately a million such children throughout our school systems are regularly being prescribed amphetamines and amphetamine-like drugs such as methylphenidate or pemoline for these conditions. These are addictive drugs, and it is not surprising that these children should grow up to become drug addicts."

"Drugs and alcohol potentiate the inherent weaknesses of the post- encephalitic personality, releasing the few inhibitions which these individuals already possess......................It would not be an exaggeration to state that the three major social problems facing the United States today: the collapse of the educational system, drug abuse, and the epidemic of violent crime are all rooted, to a considerable extent, in the prevalence of the post-encephalitic syndrome in American society. This is true for many European countries also, although to a lesser extent. "

As the U.S. economic collapse gets worse, violence of the type done by drug addicts will likely increase.

Could the recent increase in the use of meth-amphetamines be due, at least in part, to childhood vaccinations? Back in the sixties and seventies in Madison, Wisconsin - during the counterculture days - many educated young people used marijuana and a few took LSD or MDA. But these drugs for those more educated people at that time did not often lead to violence, and other forms of crime, as does the use of meth-amphetamines today for young people who are hooked on this drug. Very few of the people in the counterculture 45 or so years ago were suffering from the brain dysfunction described above in part caused by too many vaccinations in childhood.

That is, when things get worse in this country, the millions of young people who suffer from this brain dysfunction involving low intelligence, including some degree of autism in childhood, anxiety, impulsivity, hyper-activity, attention-span difficulties, inability to fully anticipate consequences for their violent behavior, and depression will probably menace the homes, possessions and lives of those within their reach, more than is the case now in the spring of 2012.

For the last several weeks I have been downloading and listening to

Dean Gotcher's online audios. There are a great many of them, each

about 30 minutes long. He identifies each talk by a change agent,

such as Theodor W. Adorno, Herbert Marcuse, Abraham Maslow, Carl

Rogers, Norman O. Brown or Eric Fromm. But he spends most of his time

in each broadcast talking about the basic difference between the

patriarchal paradigm underlying the word of God and the family as

opposed to the dialectic paradigm of Hegel, Marx and these 20th

century change agents, mostly psychologists and psychiatrists.

Gotcher repeats himself but he also comes up with many insights in

those audios. One point many miss when introduced to the dialectic

process is that this is a vital part of what is called the New World

Order. Daddy Bush announced it in 1991 in his State of the Union

Address - "January 29, 1991 ... it is a big ideaa new world order,

where diverse nations are drawn together in common cause to

achieve......."

Instead of getting into the details of end time Bible prophecy,

Gotcher quotes Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all thine

heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

He also quotes over and over I John 2: 16, "For all that is in the

world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride

of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

But we might include I John 2: 15, "Love not the world, neither the

things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of

the Father is not in him." The world emphasizes and knows only the

flesh which includes pride, and Transformational Marxism is a system

that defends the world and the flesh of man against the patriarchal

paradigm and the Spirit of God of the Christian faith.

It is fundamentally a battle between the flesh of man and the Spirit.

Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Church

is a blatant part of this transformation from a church based on the patriarchal paradigm to the dialectic paradigm, but that is only a more

obvious example. He actually has used Christian versions of the

encounter group procedure of Carl R. Rogers and William Coulson and

the dialectic process of belief change in small groups.

Though I worked on the last research project at the University of Wisconsin under Carl

Rogers in 1963 when William Coulson was lodged as some kind of

research associate under Rogers in the Wisconsin Psychiatric

Institute, I did not know him then. Coulson is a clinical Ph.D. in

psychology (Notre Dame, I think) and is a Catholic.

I talked on the phone with Coulson in 2012 and exchanged E Mail

messages with him after i found

The Story of a Repentant Psychologist."The Story

of a Repentant Psychologist In the following interview with Dr.

William Marra, Dr. William Coulson discusses his role in the

destruction of Catholic religious orders, and his subsequent change of

mind."

Rogers and Coulson plus a number of other encounter group facilitators led many - or most - -

of the nuns away from their faith and out of the Immaculate Heart of Mary group in southern California.

Chapter I

Down the Rabbit-Hole

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, and what is the use of a book, thought Alice without pictures or conversation?

So she was considering in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.

There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself, Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late! (when she thought it over afterwards, it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural); but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket , and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and fortunately was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.

In another moment down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was to get out again.

The rabbit-hole went straight on like a tunnel for some way, and then dipped suddenly down, so suddenly that Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down a very deep well.

Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her and to wonder what was going to happen next. First, she tried to look down and make out what she was coming to, but it was too dark to see anything; then she looked at the sides of the well, and noticed that they were filled with cupboards and book-shelves; here and there she saw maps and pictures hung upon pegs. She took down a jar from one of the shelves as she passed; it was labelled ORANGE MARMALADE, but to her great disappointment it was empty: she did not like to drop the jar for fear of killing somebody, so managed to put it into one of the cupboards as she fell past it.

Well! thought Alice to herself, after such a fall as this, I shall think nothing of tumbling down stairs! How brave theyll all think me at home! Why, I wouldnt say anything about it, even if I fell off the top of the house! (Which was very likely true.)

Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end! I wonder how many miles Ive fallen by this time? she said aloud. I must be getting somewhere near the centre of the earth. Let me see: that would be four thousand miles down, I think (for, you see, Alice had learnt several things of this sort in her lessons in the schoolroom, and though this was not a very good opportunity for showing off her knowledge, as there was no one to listen to her, still it was good practice to say it over) yes, thats about the right distance but then I wonder what Latitude or Longitude Ive got to? (Alice had no idea what Latitude was, or Longitude either, but thought they were nice grand words to say.)

Presently she began again. I wonder if I shall fall right through the earth! How funny itll seem to come out among the people that walk with their heads downward! The Antipathies, I think (she was rather glad there was no one listening, this time, as it didnt sound at all the right word) but I shall have to ask them what the name of the country is, you know. Please, Maam, is this New Zealand or Australia? (and she tried to curtsey as she spoke fancy curtseying as youre falling through the air! Do you think you could manage it?) And what an ignorant little girl shell think me for asking! No, itll never do to ask: perhaps I shall see it written up somewhere.

Down, down, down. There was nothing else to do, so Alice soon began talking again. Dinahll miss me very much to-night, I should think! (Dinah was the cat.) I hope theyll remember her saucer of milk at tea-time. Dinah my dear! I wish you were down here with me! There are no mice in the air, Im afraid, but you might catch a bat, and thats very like a mouse, you know. But do cats eat bats, I wonder? And here Alice began to get rather sleepy, and went on saying to herself, in a dreamy sort of way, Do cats eat bats? Do cats eat bats? and sometimes, Do bats eat cats? for, you see, as she couldnt answer either question, it didnt much matter which way she put it. She felt that she was dozing off, and had just begun to dream that she was walking hand in hand with Dinah, and saying to her very earnestly, Now, Dinah, tell me the truth: did you ever eat a bat? when suddenly, thump! thump! down she came upon a heap of sticks and dry leaves, and the fall was over.

Alice was not a bit hurt, and she jumped up on to her feet in a moment: she looked up, but it was all dark overhead; before her was another long passage, and the White Rabbit was still in sight, hurrying down it. There was not a moment to be lost: away went Alice like the wind, and was just in time to hear it say, as it turned a corner, Oh my ears and whiskers, how late its getting! She was close behind it when she turned the corner, but the Rabbit was no longer to be seen: she found herself in a long, low hall, which was lit up by a row of lamps hanging from the roof.

There were doors all round the hall, but they were all locked; and when Alice had been all the way down one side and up the other, trying every door, she walked sadly down the middle, wondering how she was ever to get out again.

Suddenly she came upon a little three-legged table, all made of solid glass; there was nothing on it except a tiny golden key, and Alices first thought was that it might belong to one of the doors of the hall; but, alas! either the locks were too large, or the key was too small, but at any rate it would not open any of them. However, on the second time round, she came upon a low curtain she had not noticed before, and behind it was a little door about fifteen inches high: she tried the little golden key in the lock, and to her great delight it fitted!

Alice opened the door and found that it led into a small passage, not much larger than a rat-hole: she knelt down and looked along the passage into the loveliest garden you ever saw. How she longed to get out of that dark hall, and wander about among those beds of bright flowers and those cool fountains, but she could not even get her head though the doorway; and even if my head would go through, thought poor Alice, it would be of very little use without my shoulders. Oh, how I wish I could shut up like a telescope! I think I could, if I only know how to begin. For, you see, so many out-of-the-way things had happened lately, that Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible.

There seemed to be no use in waiting by the little door, so she went back to the table, half hoping she might find another key on it, or at any rate a book of rules for shutting people up like telescopes: this time she found a little bottle on it, (which certainly was not here before, said Alice,) and round the neck of the bottle was a paper label, with the words DRINK ME beautifully printed on it in large letters.
