The Olive Tree In Romans 11
The root of the olive tree in Romans 11 has to be Jesus Christ, for if
it were "All
Israel" of the old covenant, there would be no transformation and no
re-making of Israel as shown in the parable of the potter in Jeremiah
18: 1-6. Isaiah 29: 16 says "Surely your turning of things upside down
shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him
that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him
that framed it, He had no understanding?" Here Isaiah is pointing to
Jeremiah 18: 1-6, and also back to II Kings 21: 13, "And I will
stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the
house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish,
wiping it, and turning it upside down." This is not talking about the
city of Jerusalem to be literally turned upside down. Its talking
about the coming transformation of physical Israel, fixated in the
physical, in the physical seed from Abraham, in physical circumcision
of the flesh, in a physical temple building and on and on with the
shadows which point to the substance and spiritual reality which were
fulflled in Christ. Those reborn in him, regardless of their physical
descent, became Israel reborn in Him.
Former Gentiles who join transformed Israel are grafted
into Christ and into the Remnant of Israel, that small group of
physical Israel who accepted Christ Paul mentions in Romans 11: 5.
Romans 11: 17 says "And if some of the branches be broken off, and
thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with
them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;"
In Romans 11: 5 Paul says "Even so then at this present time also
there is a remnant according to the election of grace." He is talking
about salvation, and the good olive tree which the Remnant of Israel
becomes a part of - physical Israelites becoming the "natural
branches" and former Gentiles being grafted into those natural
branches - so that this olive tree must represent the source of
salvation. Jesus Christ is the only source of salvation, and since he
said "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel
(Matthew 15: 24, then Israel transformed and reborn in Christ holds
the identity of the saved, who are the Israel of God (Galatians 6:
16).
In Luke 13: 6-9, a parable of physical Israel in apostasy as the fig
tree, " a certain man," the owner of the vineyard, God the Father, in
verse 7 told the "dresser of the vineyard", who is Christ, to cut the
fig tree down. But Christ said to the Father," Lord, let it alone
this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it. And if it
bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it
down."
Christ himself, the "dresser," came out of eternity to earth to redeem
the lost sheep of the house of Israel (Matthew 15: 24). He pared down
Israel first to himself alone, then as his few disciples, then the
three thousand on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2: 41), and the entire
Remnant of Israel of Romans 11: 5.
Gentiles are not grafted into the Remnant of Israel reborn in Christ
as another body of Christ, the "church." They become part of the
Israel of God (Galatians 6: 16). They are not grafted into the
religion of the Pharisees or into Talmudic Judaism, for there is no
salvation in either.

I love how you explained these verses here...:o)...xo
In Luke 13: 6-9, a parable of physical Israel in apostasy as the fig tree, " a certain man," the owner of the vineyard, God the Father, in verse 7 told the "dresser of the vineyard", who is Christ, to cut the fig tree down.
