I think Icebro is pointing out that bashar al-assad perfectly fits the mold physically, geographically and chronologically to the beast of revelations. so it is something to keep an eye out for at the very least.
who is cumont? i'm very interested to understand his theories as to why Yehovah picked a ram and a goat for their descriptions as relating to the zodiac. one thing i have pondered in the last couple years is the true identity of the lion, bear leopard and fierce beast. i know most commentaries teach that it parallels the metal man. then there are few that state it is england, russia , islam and then rome again. i see how some of it could resemble that but not completely. i think its a little bit of both. however, not worldwide rulers. england was never a world ruler. nor russia for that matter. could it be that these animals represent the powers that have been and will continue to be at war and persecute Israel? and when i say Israel, I mean the natural and grafted branches? here's my break-down
the lion with wings has been used by both assyria and babylon...alot! they persecuted and took captive both north and southern israel. and of course assyria scattered the northern part.
the bear with thee ribs in its mouth really does fit russia being that the bear is its symbol. From 1917 starting with Lenin to Stalin , 50 million souls lost due to mostly starvation. Plus another 25 million when the naziz invaded russia (which stalin had no intention of stopping). Then in the 60's Mao starved 40 million under the same twisted philosophy russia used on their people. guess what is china�s national animal....the panda BEAR. That�s 135 million lives snuffed. then we have the leopard with the 4 wings that I do believe to be islam. Would you be shocked to know that is the national animal for iran, afghanistan and somalia which is one of the original islamic nations. And with how fast it�s spreading, those 4 wings sound about right.
Then we have that last terrible beast that sounds to be the same one John saw in revelations that is a combo of all of them. Babylon at it�s head. It�s always been about babylon. No real mystery there.
My last point on why I believe dan.7 to describe the timeline of israels persecution is from the way the vision starts with these 4 winds that strove (in Hebrew �giyach� literally means to break forth as if to battle) upon the great sea (nations)
I guess over all (including bashar al assad) if the shoe fits.....it�s likely to stamp out the residue with that mean ol� shoe.
