PAIN: A GIFT???

I read a book by Dr Paul Brand and Philip Yancey "The Gift of Pain" and I really liked it. But now when one goes back to the book of Genesis (ch.3: 16), its a curse. So can we can we really accept Pain as Gift? Please respond with biblical support.

I have no idea what you are asking, but Philip Yancey is probably right. He is clever.

In most stories in the Bible God shares His anguish with people in a form of intimacy i am still coming to terms with. A good example is Ezekiel. In the first 4 chapters what God makes Ezekiel go through is so much yet very intimate i.e God shares His hurt with Ezekiel in a manner which is unbelievable.

Upon true revelation, anguish and great discomfort are experienced all in an intimacy which only a relationship with God can offer.

I am not sure if that really answers your question or brings up another issue but one thing i know is that for a professing christian to really feel that anguish/pain am refering to, he/she needs to be very intimate with God.

Is pain a gift or a curse..?..i guess it all depends on the circumstances then.

Good reflection Roc. I actually have come to realise and accept PAIN IS A GIFT whether we like it our not. When we are dead there's no pain, so the fact that we have pain is a sign we are alive and immune. People have different views though and I wish to know that. God bless.

I was going to write a book title the treasures of tribulation.

The pain of child birth is part of the curse but in the book of James and 1 peter they write about tribulation being greater than silver and gold and producing patience in our lives.

A mature Christian understands the good nature ot trials and tribulation to produce good in our lives. i cant say for sure about their book but when they refer to pain they are probally referring to pain associated to trouble in our lives.

I have had some revelations concerning tribulation and I have recently had a revelation concerning the great tribulation. Its not one most people would want to or even able to recieve so I will keep it to my self for now.

LetThis... I think it all depends on how we take it and also our maturity level as christians. PAIN reminds me of Jonathan Edwards' sermon "SINNERS IN THE HANDS OF AN ANGRY GOD." So I think Pain could be a blessing and curse as well... Need to medidate more though.
