The Seed of God
The seed refers to the seed of Abraham, which is really the seed of God.
Genesis 17: 7-11: "And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
9. And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10. This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your (word censored for Christian Dating For Free); and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you."
The seed, under the Old Covenant, was taken by All Physical Israel to be the physical seed from Abraham, that is, Abraham"s physical DNA. Physical Israel believed that having the physical DNA from Abraham made them the chosen people.
But II Kings 21: 13 says God laid his plummet over Jerusalem in judgment, and wiped All Physical Israel, turning it upside down. Then Isaiah 29: 16 harks back to II Kings 1: 13, and points to Jeremiah 18: 1-6, which is the parable of the potter. In this important parable God as the potter on his potter's wheel l made one pot which was marred, and he took that same lump of clay and made another pot (Israel) which he saw as being good.
Physical Israel was to be transformed in Jesus Christ, pruned back and given new life as the parable of the fig tree in Luke 13: 6-9 shows. Only those of Physical Israel who were born again (John 3: 1-6) of the Spirit entered into that spiritual house of i Peter 2: 5-9.
The seed is still from Abraham, but it is the faith of Abraham, not his physical seed, or sperm, which gives spiritual life. Sperm as physical seed is a kind of shadow (Hebrews 10: 1, Colossians 2:17) of what was to come as the substance.
"Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ......For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
19. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator........For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."
Paul does not spoon feed us here. He does not spell out in an explicit way that the seed of Abraham after the Cross and the Day of Pentecost is no longer the physical seed, that is, the DNA passed down from generation to generation. He does not say the physical seed has become the spiritual seed of Christ, since Christ is the singular seed of Abraham. But that is what he means.
He does come very close to saying that in Christ, the seed is no longer made up of Jews only, but of anyone who is born again in faith in Christ. In fact, in Revelation 3: 9 it is blasphemy for a physical Jew to claim to be a Jew, because as Paul says in Romans 2: 28-29 he who is a Jew now is one who is an inward Jew, while those who are merely outward Jews, whose circumcision is only of the flesh, are not real Jews.
In Zechariah 13: 8-9 the seed is the third part of three parts. Two parts are cut off and die (verse 8) and the third part will be brought through a fire to be refined and they are the seed of God.
One seed of God can be used by God to make other people the seeds of God. Thats partly why those in Christ are called seed, because they can multiply.
If you use Strong's Exhaustive Concordance or a complete concordance of all the Bible, and look up the texts that talk about Death and Hell, you find several texts that mention Death and Hell almost as through they were persons.
For example, in Revelation 6: 8 the rider on the Pale Horse is named Death and Hell followed with him. In Isaiah 28: 15 they say they have made a covenant with Death, and with Hell they are in agreement. In Revelation 1: 18 Christ has the keys to Hell and Death. Usually its Death and Hell.
In Revelation 20: 14 Death and Hell are cast into the lake of fire, as though they are people.
Just as there are two parts cut off and one part, the seed, saved in Zechariah 13; 8-9, in Luke 10: 19 there are two, serpents and scorpions. Christ promises power to tread on serpents and scorpions. Serpents is used as a metaphor in Matthew 23: 33, where Christ calls the Pharisees serpents. Scorpions are metaphoric in Ezekiel 2: 3-6, where the rebellious house of Israel is called scorpions.
Serpents bite and their venom kills. Scorpions sting and their sting causes pain. Serpents represent Death and Scorpions Hell. Hell is torment. Christ came to bring life and it more abundantly (John 10: 10). The opposite of life is Death. Those who reject Christ as having come in the flesh are of the spirit of anti-Christ (I John 4: 3) and this is Death.
Satan has two parts to his forces, Death and Hell. If the spirit of anti-Christ is Death, and leads to spiritual death, and also physical death as with the guys in the temple in Acts 21: 31 who tried to kill Paul, and the Jews who belonged to the Synagogue of Libertines and the Synagogue of Alexandarians and Cilicia (Acts 6: 9) killed Stephen for telling them the truth, then the False Prophet is Hell.
The False Prophet as the Second Beast of Revelation 13 represents many false prophets (I John 4: 1).
Guess how many parts of Satan's forces attack the Seed?
