Suicide is throwing away God's gift to you. Murder is condemned throughout the Bible. Even Judas could have been saved from his sin, but he murdered himself.
Judas never could have been saved and as the story goes, as a result, he was not saved despite his repentance.
3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
Judas went to the chief priests and elders. He did not repent before God. There is only one unforgivable sin. Judas hung himself, unrepentant. He had not actually asked for forgiveness from God. He felt shame for having betrayed the Son of God, and he tried to make ammends, but those are not the same as repentance.
Matthew 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Here is my point again. Judas had no possibility of salvation. He was predestined to reprobation. He could not be saved despite any efforts on his part or any repentance. Even his repentance became sin in accordance with Ps.109:7. We see from the verses that I posted above that he understood his condemnation ( a judicial term), he repented himself, tried to make restitution by returning the silver and even professed his sin before the priests and the elders. Looks an awful lot like repentance to me but I am not debating this point. I am stating that Judas never could have been saved from his sin.
John 6
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve
John 17
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
Which Scripture?
Ps. 109
6. Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
7 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
Here is the fullfillment:
Luke 22:3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
Matt 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders
Acts 1
16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishopric let another take.
The very fact that Satan could enter into Judas meant that the Holy Spirit was not in Judas, else he could not have betrayed Jesus. He was unrepentent. He felt guilt for what he did, but did not repent. If he had accepted Jesus in the beginning, and asked for forgiveness, he would not have been condemned. Dont forget Mark 3:19 states: And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
This means that Judas was not the only one to betray Christ. Peter betrayed Him when he denied Jesus three times. Peter was forgiven for his betrayal because he had accepted Christ and repented.
I don't really know how much simpler I can state my point other than the two times that I already have. In addition to providing references that explain and support what I have said. So, I am not going to attempt to do so a third time.
Just a few comments to your last response.
1. Peter did not betray Christ, he denied knowing him. Big difference.
Mark 14
66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the c0ck crew.
69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
71 But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
72 And the second time the c0ck crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the c0ck crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
2. Mark 3:19 does not mean that Judas was not the only one to betray Christ. It is simply making the distinction between the two different disciples who were both named Judas.
Look at Mark 3:19 in the ESV and also Luke 6:16 in the KJV.
Mark 3:19 And Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him
Luke 6:16 And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.
3. Peter was forgiven for his betrayal because he was chosen/elect. Consistent with his election, Jesus said to him:
" Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. "
Luke 22:31-32
This is the opposite of the account recorded in John 17: 9-12 where we learn that Jesus did not pray for Judas.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
This means Anyone that excepts JESUS as savior is ELECT.
Let me be as perfectly clear. There is only ONE unpardonable sin and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Judas did not blaspheme the Holy Spirit, he betrayed the Son of God. Because Satan was able to enter into Judas, he was not saved. Thus, when he killed himself, he was not only condemned for the sin of betrayal, he was also condemned for murdering himself.
Up until the moment you kill yourself, you have not committed murder. The moment after you have killed yourself, you have committed murder. The dead can not received forgiveness since Christ's death.
