Shepherd hangs sign: Thou shalt not hunt sheep, Thou shalt not kill sheep, Thou shalt not eat sheep. Thou shalt not steal from the flock.

Wolf: Mr. Shepherd, it is very negative of you to always post such signs. It's not very edifying. What are you doing to build everyone's "self esteem"? Why not build up instead of tear down?

Shepherd: I believe that you are the only one who is not edified by my negative prohibitions, Wolf.

Wolf: I am here to "bring life"

Shepherd: You are only bringing life to yourself but you are bringing potential death and destruction to my entire flock.

The wolves like to whine when the shepherds takes away their freedom: their freedom to steal, kill and destroy the sheep. They like to complain that the shepherds are judgmental, harsh and negative. This too, is part of the carnal mind of the wolf; a mind that shows no understanding of Spiritual things.

What a wolf fails to understand is that it is these negative prohibitions that bring life and health to the sheep. They fail to understand that it is an act of grace and mercy to the sheep that these laws are given. It is these very same laws that provide the necessary structure for the sheep to live in peace and have freedom.

If we look at the Ten Commandments, a wolf would argue that God has imposed on his freedom. He would argue that God is a harsh and a cruel landlord. He could claim that God was a negative guy and not very edifying. A wolf has no eyes to see nor ears to hear. He cannot understand that a command such as "Thou shalt not kill" provides the very preconditions for the sheep to live in safety, without fear for their lives. A wolf sees this as restrictive to his ability to kill with impunity. A sheep sees this as freedom from the threat of a wolf taking his life or the life of his family.

Let's look at another command: Thou shalt not steal. A wolf sees this as restrictive to his ability to take whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and from whomever he wants. However, this command also provides the necessary preconditions for the sheep to live without fear of their property or belongings being stolen. To work and accumulate wealth and to leave an inheritance for their children without fear that it be taken from them or their family. I think that you get the point that I am trying to make.

Wolves will always whine when their selfish behavior is restricted. The next time you hear a wolf whining, it's safe to assume the sheep are living in peace.
