Obadiah 1: 1-6 and the Attempt to Get Back the Lost Chosen People Position

"The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

2. Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

3. The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

4. Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

5. If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

6. How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!"...................Obadiah 1: 1-6

"Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou

set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down,

saith the Lord."

"Thyself" is Edom, who was at first Esau, who was in line for the birthright.

, the descendants of Esau, tried to get back that position

Esau lost his position to his younger brother Jacob. But Edom tried to get back his position that was lost - by killing Jacob. Edom, as the descendants of Esau-Jacob also tried to get back their position that was lost.

Likewise, all physical Israel has been trying to get back the position they lost to transformed Israel (I Peter 2: 5, a spiritual house). And what we now call Christian Zionism is a proxy for all physical Israel which wants to get its position back, and claims it never lost it. Christian Zionism claims physical Israel never lost its position to the younger brother, who is seen in Luke 15: 11-32...........

.But its not about race anymore, as Paul teaches in Galatians 3: 3-29. Revelation 2: 9 is not about some other race claiming to be Jews, for example, the Khazars, who are not really Jews. Its about those in physical Israel claiming to still be the chosen people because of their DNA, when in fact those in Christ are the chosen people (I Peter 2: 9). And Revelation 2: 9 is following Romans 2: 28-29.

There is one typo here which should be corrected. Esau-Jacob is the typo. It should be Esau-Edom.

And the word Edom is left out before "the descendants of Esau, tried to get back that position." It should say "Edom, the descendants of Esau, tried to get back that position."

I really enjoyed your analogy! (Esua/Jacob, Edom/Israel, Israel/Church Judaism/Christianity)

However as with most analogies it can't be taken to far; I agree 100% if this is to be applied to the Zionist movement by Orthodox Judaism; it will never regain its position. However when Judaism recognizes her true Messiah they will become one with the Church and a new physical Israel will be reborn in which Jesus, the Christ will rule as King.

I believe God has not forgotten physical Israel any more than the father forgot the eldest son in Luke. Israel WILL be a testimony to the Nations of the sovereign plan and faithfulness of God!
