Some Traits of the II Timothy Church

On a Christian forum someone wrote today, on Rick Warren, that "What really threw me is one video. He ends each with a prayer but in about the 4th session, without any preparation beforehand, he starts praying the sinner's prayer (which we are supposed to be praying for ourselves, of course). Then he ends by saying, "If you said this prayer with me, you are born again. Go tell someone in your small group and rejoice."

One is no more born again (John 3: 1-7) by saying the sinner's prayer with Rick Warren than he would be by making an alter call at a Billy Graham event. Making an alter call could be an outward manifestation of that transformation and birth of one's spirit called being born again, but its the transformation which saves you, not the alter call.

On http://www.fundamentallyreformed.com/2006/08/30/finney-and-altar-call/ it is said that " The invitation system as we know it today (also known as the altar call) was popularized by finney in the 1830s. According to Albert Dod a professor at Princeton who was a contemporary critic of Finney, one will search in vain for a single example of this practice [i.e. the invitation system] before the 1820s............So Finney used the altar call to put pressure on people to believe on the spot. And the tactic worked. It produced results. Yetthe results Finney produced (by some accounts as many as 500,000 converts) are contested. Even Finneys own contemporary supporters recorded that the vast majority of the converts had not remained true to the Christian faith years later."

The doctrine that the Bible contains "essential" and "non-essential" doctrines is a starting point for many other false doctrines. The idea of the luke-warm II Timothy churches in false doctrines during the tribulation is that Christians can "agree to disagree" on "non-essential" doctrines. But the deadly thing about this doctrine is that scripture does not say there are essential and non-essential doctrines, not even implies that there are such, or tells us what they might be.

"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:" II John 1: 9-10

"Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

10. For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;" I Timothy 1: 9-10

"Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed." I Timothy 6: 1

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;" II Timothy 4: 3

Not only will the II Timothy church after the falling away of II Thessalonians 2: 3-4 and the leavening of Luke 13: 21, till the whole is leavened, claim that there are "non-essentials" of Biblical doctrine that they do not have to follow, but they make up some of their own doctrines, leaning to man's own understanding. When the New Testament uses the word doctrine, it often means all the doctrines given by Christ and through his Apostles. And Paul was given revelation by the risen Christ (Acts 26: 15-18) , which Paul wrote as several doctrines in his letters.

So here is the problem. I will give you 2 examples.

People differ in how they view things. Like what is pleasing to God and what faithfulness looks like.

Everyone including you will tell me what is pleasing to God and what faithfulness looks like and according to everyones perspective according to their interpetation believes their position to be correct.

Right?

We are a stiff necked people just like the jews of old.
