Who art thou, O man?

We are small and insignificant before God. We are not as much as a fly before Him. Does not God say that if you take all nations together, they are but a dust speck on the balance and a drop on the bucket? The nations are not a drop IN the bucket, but a drop OF the bucket, that is, a drop on the outside of the pail that presently falls off and means just nothing. Who art thou, O man? You are nothing but a speck of dust. Shall, then, that speck of dust say to the great God, Whom he cannot understand, "What doest Thou?" We have no rights over against God.

God forbid that this objection should ever come upon our lips. We may not understand, and I am glad of it. we are small and cannot comprehend God, but when God puts us where we ought to be, that is, in the dust, and when He takes the perverseness out of our hearts, we do not say, "What doest Thou?" Rather, we say that God is absolutely sovereign, and He does all His good pleasure.
