The Parable of the Potter In Jeremiah 18: 1-6
The parable of the potter in Jeremiah 18: 4-6 says "
"And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the
potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the
potter to make it. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the
LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine
hand, O house of Israel."
God the potter made one pot on his potter's wheel which was marred, or
flawed. So he took the same lump of clay and made it, Israel, into
another pot, which seemed good to the Lord the potter. He did not put
the old flawed pot on a shelf and then make a new pot to go alongside
of it as John Darby, C.I. Scofield, Lewis S. Chafer and so many others
following them have said.
What the parable of the potter shows is that God changed physical
Israel into a different Israel.
God did not replace physical Israel with some different group called
the Capital C Church. Notice that in the New Testament church,
translated from ekklesia, is not capitalized, indicating that church
is not a proper noun. A proper noun is something which is unique,
like an individual person or a country. If the meaning of the Greek
word ekklesia is maintained when it is translated as congregation as
Tyndale did, or as church in the Geneva Bible and in the King James
Version, then church is not a proper noun because it is not a unique
thing. Church, as a meeting, assembly or congregation is not a proper
noun because a meeting, assembly or congregation is not something
which can stand as a unique group as does Israel. For example, the
meeting of the local Democratic Party is not something equal to the
Democratic Party. The Party exists as a unique thing, but the
meetings of that Party are not the Party itself. The same is true for
church. Israel reborn in Christ is not equal to the meeting, assembly
or congregation in which Israel reborn in Christ and some who are not
the elect meet together. This is why church is not capitalized in
scripture.
The Catholics made the church, from ekklesia, into a Capital C proper
noun Church, which supposedly replaced physical Israel. But the
parable of the potter does not support this Catholic position.
The parable of the potter in Jeremiah 18 shows that God changed physical Israel into an Israel that he, God, thought was good. The first Israel that God made was marred in the hands of the potter, who is God. So, the church, never a Capital C Church, is just the regular meeting of that better Israel that God made in sending his own Son to give that Israel which was lost new spiritual life. Jeremiah 18: 1-6 is fulfilled in the Remnant of Israel which accepted Christ (Romans 11: 5).
Now, that new Israel God made from the same lump of clay as the old Israel has fallen away from sound doctrine, and another Remnant of Israel out in the wilderness in Revelation 12: 17 has the testimony of Jesus Christ. But the Capital C Church, which thinks it is the Body of Christ, wants to argue about who the woman is in Revelation 12 and this argument helps to keep those in the "Church" from coming to the knowledge of the truth about Revelation 12: 17.
�Colossians 2: 16-17 is significant because it lists several things of
the Law of Moses which are now seen as mere shadows: diet
restrictions, holy days, new moons, and the sabbath days. The
seventh day sabbath, which is Saturday, was, in part, to celebrate the
seventh day rest in the Lord. God created the world and man during
six days, and on the seventh day he rested. Hebrews 4: 3 says "For we
which have believed do enter into rest, as he said..."�.
The seventh day represents man in Christ. Man must stay in the
seventh day and not go on to the eighth, which is a mix of man obeying
God and man leaning to his own understanding.�
- WRONG! Why? Let�s think what was the purpose of the Sabbath? Why did the God of Israel command Jews to observe this day of the REST of God?!
Let�s read about that: �For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it HOLY.�
God wanted that the Jewish people would REST like He rests. But WHY? The answer is in the Scripture too:
Psalm 95
A Call to Worship and Obedience
95 Oh come, let us sing to the LORD!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
3 For the LORD is the great God,

The heights of the hills are His also.
5 The sea is His, for He made it;
And His hands formed the dry land.
6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

Today, if you will hear His voice:
8 �Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,
As in the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 When your fathers tested Me;
They tried Me, though they saw My work.
10 For forty years I was grieved with that generation,
And said, �It is a people who go astray in their hearts,
And they do not know My ways.�
11 So I swore in My wrath,
�They shall not enter My REST.��
That they should not enter into my rest. The "rest" here referred to was the land of Canaan/the Promised Land/Israel. They were not permitted to enter there as a place of "REST" after their long and weary wanderings, but died in the wilderness. But WHY? The meaning is that they did not come to the Promised Land which is a symbol of the Kingdom of God. Unbelief shut them out! And in Hebrews 3 we read a solemn warning to all NOT to be unbelieving and rebellious, since the consequence of unbelief and rebellion must be to exclude us from the Kingdom of Heaven, the true place of "Rest" where the God of Israel DWELLS! Thus the Sabbath represents the COMMAND of God to ENTER His dwelling place- the Kingdom of Heaven/the Promised Land. This command is HOLY! That is why Jews should think weekly during all days of their life about the PLACE of the REST where the God of Israel RESTS! Why? To ENTER the Place in FAITH and NOT grieving Him!

-Do not forget a few chapters in the OT saying about the THIRD Temple of God. Re-Read them.

- Right. God did not replace physical Israel with some different group because the God of Israel said that He will save Jews! He loves Jews with an everlasting Love! (Torah). But God said that all gentiles who believe in His Son are ONE and the Jewish ethnicity in this case does not matter. If we believe in His Son then we are Abraham�s seed i.e. heirs of Abraham and sons of God.

5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: 6 �O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?� says the LORD. �Look, as the clay is in the potter�s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! 7 The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. 9 And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, 10 if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it.
11 �Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, �Thus says the LORD: �Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.���
What do we read here?
God said that Jews/Israel are like the clay is in the potter�s hand. God can pluck up, pull down, and destroy any nation and any kingdom if it does evil in His sight and does NOT OBEY His voice. But is that nation/kingdom REPENTS and turns from its evil then God will relent of the disaster that He thought to bring upon it. Then in this case God will build and to plant it. This WARNING story God said through prophet Jeremiah to BRING Jews to REPENTANCE because God was planning to use a DISASTER against Jews if they will not turn to Him.
11 �Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, �Thus says the LORD: �Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.���
Hi new kid on the block here and i want to reply not by what has been posted but what it means to me, except that Versavia you are correct it was unbelief that kept the Israelis that escaped Egypt from entering the promised land, good job!
To me these verses are a description of Israel but also of each individual life as well. i see the stories in the Old and New testament both as what happened and what God will do in similar circumstances. Like all relationships they grow by learning the reactions of the partner to different situations. In my life i have been reformed, very similar to what i was before with a defect removed or a belief that was wrong corrected. Also i have noticed that once a person goes through the fire they seem to be set at the shape, like clay that gets fired, that they were in when they entered the fire.
Sometimes the molding process takes a LONG time but it is worth every second. Once you are set there is no changing very much except paint on the outside or destruction.
Here I correct a FALSE prophet and a FALSE teacher who deceive and mislead THOUSANDS of Christians in the USA!

And these 'prophecies' said to church sounded funny because sometimes no ill people confirmed that they were ill of this illness.
This is one more deception in our churches in the last days. That's why I am asking you to reconsider you all you prophecies which you said and say to christians.
Why?
Because God considers all prophets, saying what God did not say, as the false prophets.
Today I CLEARLY see that you are a false prophet who BOLDLY violate all prophecies of God, DECEIVING people. I tell you that you are a prophet who are making mistakes in your understanding/knowledge of the prophecies of God. Do you do it deliberately? YES. Because I showed you your mistakes and you even agreed with me.
That's why knowing how it is dangerous to say what God did not say, I am kindly asking you to conform to the God's words. Repent and
abandon the false prophecies which you try to prophetize. If you will reconsider all your words/prophecies, correct your mistakes and you will not see anything what is against the God then God will bless you.

The Branch of Righteousness

I will tell you MORE:
Examine yourself today! One of the deceptions of the last time in our churches is "fake tongues" when people pretend to speak in tongues and even deceive Christians, assuring them that they also speak in tongues and prohetize but in fact it is NOT so. Because if you pretend to speak in tongues and God did NOT give any tongue to you and you even DECEIVE other Christians in churches, saying that you and they speak in tongues, then BE READY for God's JUDGMENT. He will judge you soon for ANY word which you said in 'your tongues' on BEHALF of God! It is the same as false prophecies!
It is the same as a sin of false prophecies! And if you are guilty of it, it means that God will judge you as a FALSE prophet too.
His Judgment is approaching you! Repent AND STOP ANY MADNESS! Confess all your sins to God and TRY to survive His WRATH against your sins/His Judgment!
Those who pretend to be Christians, I am WARNING you that Prince has deceived thousands of Americans! Are you among them?!

Matthew 24:30 "Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming ON the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
Mark 13:26 "At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
Luke 21:27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Jesus Ascends to Heaven 9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, �Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? Jesus Christ is returning with "The Clouds of Heaven" which is both His church and the angels.
Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
Revelation 19:14 And the armies (This is another way at looking at the clouds of heaven) which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Zechariah 14:5 ... and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. (The saints are clouds of heaven)
A special word to you. Be very careful calling me a false prophet when I never claimed to be one.
Right now you have no credibility by your statements.
I suggest that you repent for accusing me of being a false prophet as by your own words you lied.
The Clouds of Heaven includes the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
(1) Go and re-read below again what I said: I issued a WARNING to a FALSE prophet called Prince Handley and I CALL him as a false prophet because I communicated with him and even proved him that his false claims are NOT biblical.

(2) IF you will say and interpret the Bible prophecies in a FALSE way like you are doing TODAY, changing meaning of the CLEAR words of God in a way you want ..what you are doing today, you will be a FALSE prophet in the eyes of God!
(3) What I see today: You made a mistake and false judgment about clouds.
God CLEARLY said that it is CLOUD. If you say: NO then you make God a LIAR and He is going to hold you accountable for that! I rebuke you and tell you your sin. If you will NOT repent, God will deal with you accordingly!
You will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God! Because EVEN I warned you today about this sin-misinterpretation of words of God! Repent of this sin and TURN from it changing your web sites and books accordingly!
God does NOT allow to add or say anything what He does NOT say. Read what I said to a false prophet Prince Handley!

Today I CLEARLY see that you are a false teacher who BOLDLY violates prophecies of God, DECEIVING people. I tell you that you are not a prophet at all. You are a false teacher who is making mistakes in understanding/knowledge of the prophecies of God. Do you do it deliberately? YES. It is YOUR choice to make mistakes after I showed you what God says!
That's why, knowing how it is dangerous to say what God did not say, I am kindly asking you to conform to the God's words. Repent and abandon the false interpretations of the prophecies of God which you make. If you will reconsider all your words/comments on the prophecies of God, correct your mistakes and you will not see anything what is against the God then God will bless you.

The Branch of Righteousness
1 �Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!� says the LORD. 2 Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel against the shepherds who feed My people: �You have scattered My flock, driven them away, and not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your doings,� says the LORD. 3 �But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4 I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking,� says the LORD.

� That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;
A King shall reign and prosper,
And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
6 In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely;

False Prophets and Empty Oracles

They make you worthless;
They speak a vision of their own heart,

� The LORD has said, �You shall have peace��;

� No evil shall come upon you.��
18 For who has stood in the counsel of the LORD,
And has perceived and heard His word?

19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD has gone forth in fury�
A violent whirlwind!
It will fall violently on the head of the wicked.
20 The anger of the LORD will not turn back
Until He has executed and performed the thoughts of His heart.

21 � I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran.
I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
22 But if they had stood in My counsel,
And had caused My people to hear My words,
Then they would have turned them from their evil way
And from the evil of their doings.
23 � Am I a God near at hand,� says the LORD,
� And not a God afar off?
24 Can anyone hide himself in secret places,
So I shall not see him?� says the LORD;

25 �I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in My name, saying, �I have dreamed, I have dreamed!� 26 How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart, 27 who try to make My people forget My name by their dreams which everyone tells his neighbor, as their fathers forgot My name for Baal.
28 � The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream;
And he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully.
What is the chaff to the wheat?� says the LORD.
29 � Is not My word like a fire?� says the LORD,
� And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
30 �Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,� says the LORD, �who steal My words every one from his neighbor. 31 Behold, I am against the prophets,� says the LORD, �who use their tongues and say, �He says.� 32 Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,� says the LORD, �and tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies and by their recklessness. Yet I did not send them or command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all,� says the LORD.
33 �So when these people or the prophet or the priest ask you, saying, �What is the oracle of the LORD?� you shall then say to them, �What oracle?� I will even forsake you,� says the LORD. 34 �And as for the prophet and the priest and the people who say, �The oracle of the LORD!� I will even punish that man and his house. 35 Thus every one of you shall say to his neighbor, and every one to his brother, �What has the LORD answered?� and, �What has the LORD spoken?� 36 And the oracle of the LORD you shall mention no more. I will tell you MORE:
Examine yourself today! One of the deceptions of the last time in our churches is "fake tongues" when people pretend to speak in tongues and even deceive Christians, assuring them that they also speak in tongues and prohetize but in fact it is NOT so. Because if you pretend to speak in tongues and God did NOT give any tongue to you and you even DECEIVE other Christians in churches, saying that you and they speak in tongues, then BE READY for God's JUDGMENT. He will judge you soon for ANY word which you said in 'your tongues' on BEHALF of God! It is the same as false prophecies!
It is the same as a sin of false prophecies! And if you are guilty of it, it means that God will judge you as a FALSE prophet too.
His Judgment is approaching you! Repent AND STOP ANY MADNESS! Confess all your sins to God and TRY to survive His WRATH against your sins/His Judgment!

Destructive Doctrines:
2 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.
Doom of False Teachers:
4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)� 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. Depravity of False Teachers:

They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man�s voice restrained the madness of the prophet.
17 These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
Deceptions of False Teachers:
18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: �A dog returns to his own vomit,� and, �a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.�
