Another Dysfunctional Fable (I Timothy 1: 4, II Timothy 4: 4)
"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." Revelation 13: 18
The "fractured fairy tale" or dysfunctional fable told by some dispensationalists is that Six Hundred and Six is a single individual, some kind of super one-man figure of evil.
Dispensationalists have their one man super anti-Christ, who is said to make a treaty with the nation of Israel, and later go into their newly rebuilt temple and desecrate it. But the spirit of anti-Christ in I John 4: 3 is associated with all physical Israel, or now, the nation of Israel, which rejected Christ and still does as Talmudic Judaism. National Israel is one head of the first beast of Revelation 13, seen in verse 3, the head of the first beast who received a deadly wound which was later healed - in 1948.
Revelation 13: 11-18 is about the second beast which has been called the False Prophet, who represents many false prophets (Matthew 24: 11). The False Prophet is different from the spirit of anti-Christ.
The False Prophet is found in Matthew 24: 5, "For many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ; and shall deceive many." The False Prophet accepts that Christ came in the flesh, but this is another Jesus and another Gospel (II Corinthians 11: 4, Galatians 1: 6-9) which the False Prophets teach. This is why they are said to be deceptive. On the other hand, the spirit of anti-Christ rejects Christ. The spirit of anti-Christ is not the single one man super anti-Christ, the dispensationalist anti-Christ of fable. And the spirit of anti-Christ is associated with the head of the first beast whose deadly wound was healed.
In Revelation 9: 15, 18 the army of horsemen of verse 16 is said to kill a third part of men. The horsemen do not kill one third of humanity, but "kill" the spiritual part of those claiming to be Christians. Man, made in the image of the three part God, is made up of body, mind and spirit. The False Prophets "kill" one part of man by what comes out of their mouths, by what the priests and preachers preach. What is left of man after his spiritual part is "killed" is two parts out of three, or .666. What Revelation 13: 18 is saying, in the language of metaphor, is that the False Prophet, the second beast, has the number 666, which represents man as a two part being, made up only of body and mind, with no spirit. He is the natural man of I Corinthians 2: 14 who cannot receive the things of the spirit. The False Prophet of Revelation 13: 11-18 causes man, or those claiming to be Christians, to be a two part being, with only a body and a mind, without spiritual discernment.
As the False Prophets "kill" the spiritual part of those claiming to be Christians by the doctrines they, the priests and preachers preach, the entity now called the church becomes itself the second beast of Revelation 13. It is 666, man with .666 of what he should be, man without his human spirit, created by the Holy Spirit and by being in Christ.
