God heals if we ask Him and it it complies with His plans for you.
About one month ago, I saw a dog who could not walk (it lives in a private garage). Probably its back leg was broken. I thought that most probably it will not walk again cuz no one took care of this dog...
I asked God to heal it. And a few days ago I saw it walked again.
May be God healed this dog....cuz it was a serious injury....
Anyway, it walks and I told God thank You for the healing.
God healed also a Muslim man who was ill in a remote mountain region...He was yellow and felt a pain in stomach...probably caused by kidney stones....His skin became yellow...
We didnt have any pills there and could not bring him to a hospital...No hospitals in this area...Not far from China boarder...
And seeing how he was suffering and no one helped him (he could die any moment...) I came to him and said:
I can pray now to my God and ask Him to heal you. Do you want it?
Muslims here would never allow that....
But he said: ok. Then I touched his arm and said a prayer:
Father please heal this man in the name of Jesus. Take away any pain and forgive him his sins....Something like that...I do not remember...It was 15 years ago.
Then next day he was ok. No suffering...and I say: Thank You my God for hearing our prayers and healing us.
One of the names of our God in Hebrew is "God Heals".
God is our Doctor.

Yet too many people only focus on physical healing,and not spiritual or emotional healing.

Thank you, Versavia, for your response. I had hoped to get more responses, but anything is great. I found a few denominations online that have specific doctrines regarding faith healing, along with some other perspectives that I plan to use.
The shamanic healing, I know, is not in the Bible, but something supernatural still appears to be happening. I just don't know where the power is coming from. My biggest question, I think, and more for myself than for the paper -they don't care about my viewpoint (it's a secular university)- is how to explain such supernatural phenomena. In other words, if the world were all black and white, there could be a good force and an evil force, with the good force only bringing healing (and sweetness and light, etc., etc.) and the bad force only bringing pain (and despair, darkness, death, etc.). But there seems to be more to it than that. According to my worldview, sometimes God allows pain to bring us (or others) closer to Himself. Others would say that God, being a good God, wouldn't want us to suffer, and so divine healing as mandatory for the Christian to experience comes in. And going into the very muddy waters, why would other religions heal individuals where God would not? Is it because they did not pester Him enough? (Jesus at least a couple times refers to women having their prayers answered solely because they were persistent). And, if other religions are supposed to be against God, then why would they seemingly be doing something that God would want (i.e., healing)? Jesus both said, "whoever is not for Me is against Me", and "whoever is not against Me is for Me". But only one road leads to God, namely, faith in the Son of God. So what do you do with those who seem to do God's will, yet, by the prior sentence, are against God?
(This has gone outside of the realm of my paper. Now I am only trying to get to the bottom of something I can never seem to get to the bottom of, because it only seems to get more complicated, the further you go in. Someone else's perspective, please?).

Some have hypothesized that this is how prayer works -and any other methods of supernaturally altering reality. Any thoughts here??

Jesus warned us that He even will punish us by death and sickness if we will NOT repent!
Those who practice sins and live in sins do NOT come to JESUS! Lest their deeds should be exposed. They LOVE darkness more than LIGHT Jesus because their deeds are evil. This is true.
If we live in sins, we do NOT go to Jesus asking Him to forgive us. We prefer our sexual immorality...our sins...revelations and visions of demons....
But look what Jesus said to such "sexual immoral people":

And I gave her TIME to REPENT! God Jesus gives us time to repent and get rid of our false prophecies CHANGING our mind and TURNING from our sins to God and the Holy Bible, ABANDONING our lovers, sexual immorality and false doctrines. If we do NOT repent then our life ends and this is a POINT of NO RETURN.

I do not believe that satanic forces can heal anyone because they came only to kill and destroy and deceive. Their leader Lucifer/satan is a murderer since the beginning...
They just make you to believe that you are healed...or may be they exercise some kind of "wonders"...supernatural activities but the result is the same if you will come to them to ask for their help:

I know what you are talking about.
This is one of the statements of FALSE doctrines/demonic statements of the last age.
Let me explain you why:
(1) Our prayer is a CONVERSATION with our Father.
We ask Him for help and He responds.
He response could be YES, NO, WAIT.
We cannot make Him to respond in the way we want. That is why it is madness if somebody says about observer...
But our faith could be wonderful.
My example: I was in mountains and saw how one guy was skiing on snowboard. It was very dangerous for small children and my 4 year old niece...because at such high speed he could fall down and cut off face and hands of children...I was very angry because I saw a danger for our child. And I thought:
He will fall down soon and break his leg.
I do not know why I thought it. May be I was angry or I had such a feeling that he will fall down..or may be it was obvious that the fall if inevitable in such circumstances...
But when he stopped I just said loud to my relative and he heard that:
"Haven't he yet broken his leg?" And when I said that immediately he broke his leg! He looked at me with sadness ...and his friends took him away...
I was just sure in what I said and it was implemented.

That is why we should be CAREFUL in exercising our faith. We should use it BOLDLY if we pray for other people but we should be accountable for our words too.
So, I repented and asked God to forgive me for what I said about this young man knowing that after my words his leg was broken.
So how our prayer works: our prayers is a communication line with God: TALK to God in prayers like via your mob phone and wait for His response. If it will comply with His will you will get a positive response. If you live in sins then His response is evident: REPENT and live a godly life.
I just looked on line,there is a shamanic institute in USA,the roots of this is Shamanism which has its roots in Eastern Mysticism,such as Hinduism,Buhdda,and other demonic practices.
Please stay away,and warn others about this,is very deceptive as with every kind of demonic practices.
How God heals: upon our prayers and we do NOT need any show for that!

How we all should be healed?
We should ask our Church members/Christians to pray for us like on this web site above they have an option to pray for Christians called "Prayer".
So, you give a prayer request and Christians and you pray about your health and God heals if it complies with His will.
Sometimes He does not heal people and people die. Yes, Christians die of cancer and in car accidents too. We do not have a supernatural protection! No. Why? We all complete our mission. People die because their mission is over or because of their sins and they go to God....to hell or heaven....
