Hello everyone:
There have been many books written about the 'gifts' of the Holy Spirit.
There have been many teachings,and sermons on this subject,yet there have not been many which look into the meaning of the word 'gift(s)' of the Holy Spirit.
I would like to breach this subject much to the dismay of the Pentecostals,and Charismatics,along with a host of others which are chasing after 'gifts' instead of Messiah.
The Holy Spirit will never bring attention to himself,He will always bring attention to Messiah and the things which belong to Yeshua.
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Joh 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Joh 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
In the Greek language which the New Covenant had been written in there can be many meanings of just one word.
For example,the English word 'love'; I love my wife,i love my dog,i love my car.
Can a person have the same love for their spouse as they also have for their dog,and car.
In the Greek language there is a word which corresponds to each incident love would be used eg.
I 'agape' my wife.
I 'philarguria' my dog and car.
Now concerning the 'gifts' of the Holy Spirit there are a few Greek words for the English word 'gift'.
If we do not know the meaning of the word we will be teaching wrongly and misrepresent Messiah and His Word.
Here goes.
1Co_12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Co_12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

Greek- charisma
What is 'charisma' but GRACE,yes Grace.
It is the Grace of the Holy Spirit.
It is the power of the Holy Spirit working within a person.

Part of Speech: Noun, Neuter
Transliteration: charisma
Phonetic Spelling: (khar'-is-mah)
Short Definition: an undeserved favor
Definition: a gift of grace, an undeserved favor.

The other Greek words are doron and doreah,both of these are gifts in the sense of what a gift really is.
In the following Scripture are two Greek words meaning 'gift'.
Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
The first one in vs. 7 is the word ' dorea'

Each word of GOD Almighty is important,as each word has meaning.
If i have the wrong understanding of the words which Almighty GOD has spoken,will i not be misrepresenting Him,and will i not also be leading others away from knowing Messiah.

No! It is not possible to lead one astray, to lead one away from the Messiah, as it is written:
"And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers." John 10:4-5
"No man can come unto me except the Father which hath sent me draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day" John 6:44
"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." John 6:37
"And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day." John 6:39
"glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed." Acts 13:48
If it is written, "And a stranger will they not follow; but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers", don't you believe this..?

I wonder if you had read this part of my post
Each word of GOD Almighty is important,as each word has meaning.
If i have the wrong understanding of the words which Almighty GOD has spoken,will i not be misrepresenting Him,and will i not also be leading others away from knowing Messiah.
Being lead away from Messiah,and being lead away from knowing Yeshua are two different things.
It would behoove you and i alike to pay more attention to what is being written,and to be slow to answer.
