The Book of Tobit

About a year ago I purchased a bible literally in a bargain basement book sale of my local library which turned out to be a Catholic bible the "New American Bible Saint Joseph Edition". It turned out to be the best bible I own to date with a ton of annotations, footnotes and information that I've never heard before. Along with the notes there were also strange new books within the text one of which was a book that I could not stop reading. And once I read it, I read it again and again. I read it to anyone who would listen. I even read it to those who wouldn't listen until they did listen. :excited:

It's called the Book of Tobit. It's principal characters are Tobit, Tobias, Sarah, an angel named Azariah and a demon named Asmodeus. I found it to be fascinating as it had all the elements of a dramatic love story with Azariah deeply involved in Tobias' life and Asmodeus obsessed with Sarah.

While it's considered apocryphal I strongly recommend reading it purely for entertainment or discussion purposes. I am very much interested in your feedback, I would love to discuss it here or at least hear your thoughts.

This is a book of the "Apocrypha" because it was not included within the Jewish Bible called the Tanakh nor considered canonical by Judaism.

That is why Christians do NOT read Apocrypha to avoid any deception and madness and false teaching and we read only the HOLY words of God in the Holy Bible ....all other madness we reject...

I think we're familiar with "Apocrypha" and what it means. I think we are also aware of the dangers of any attempt to legitimize anything that is not the inspired word of God.

But on your watch, none shall fall into deception. Preach, sister. Glory Hallelujah!:applause:

I've read the "Apocrypha" and find it interesting. My associate Pastor while we were discussing "Teachings" made the comment that...

2 Tim 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

scripture - graphe G1124 -

1. a writing, thing written

2. the Scripture, used to denote either the book itself, or its contents

3. a certain portion or section of the Holy Scripture

*** Meaning that we are to read everything and search the Scriptures as in...

Jhn 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

(NKJV) ~ [ the "me" is Yahshua aka Jesus :) ]

Because...

Acts 17:8-11 (NKJV)

8 And they troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city when they heard these things.

9 So when they had taken security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.

10 Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

*** So its ok to read..."scripture"...just verify it all against the Holy Scriptures...God Bless...xo
