Can a genuine Christian commit apostasy?

Yes.

God said that during the end time before the return of Jesus to our planet many will abandon faith!

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron

1 Timothy 4:1

Jesus prophesied that "MANY will fall away" (Matt. 24:10). Likewise, Paul said the Anti-Christ cannot be revealed until "the great apostasy" takes place (II Thess. 2:3).

II Timothy 3:5 - "Men will hold to form of religion but will deny its power."

In II Timothy 4:3-4, Paul says: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths."

Jesus warned:

Matthew 18:7

Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!

2 Peter 2:1

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers AMONG YOU (Christians!!!). They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.

1 John 2:18

Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

1 John 4:6

We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

Jesus WARNS us:

"All this I have told you so that you will not fall away.

1"These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling. 2"They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.

John 16:1

Jesus says:

Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe FOR A WHILE, but in the time of TESTING they FALL AWAY.

NOTE Christians: Judgment will begin in the House of the Lord/the Church of God, where it always begins (Ezek. 9:6 and I Peter 4:17).

For it is time for judgment to begin with God's household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

AND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS:angel: IS SAVED, WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN:angeldevil: AND THE SINNER:angeldevil:?

1 Peter 4:17

Kind of a loaded question.

The real question I would ask is "Are they a true Christian?".

Jesus said in Luke:

"And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." - Luke 9:62

If they fell away which does happen I question if they had genuine repentance. It seems more and more in today's church that you say this quick little sentence, all your sins are forgiven and that is the end of the story. GG

I do not believe this, and the reason why is that it didn't come from the heart. Jesus disliked the long-winded prayers the pharisees did because they honored him with their mouth and not their heart.

Repentance comes from the heart, when we realize we are horrible and wretched sinners that DESERVE damnation but through grace we are saved.

It is only then do I believe you find true repentance.

Hi game;

May i ask you a question, you said repentance comes from the heart.

What is a person to repent of in order to be saved, and what is a person saved from.

Blessings

This strikes me as "devils advocate" but I will bite.

What was the fall of man?

What did Jesus come to do?

The answer to both these questions at their root is sin.

The fall of man was because of Sin, through which death entered in.

Jesus came to pay the fine for OUR sins.

So to answer you must repent of your sin.

Repentance by definition means to regret, to turn away.

Jesus said that sin was so serious this it if our eye offend us we should pluck it out and cast it from us for it was better to enter into the kingdom maimed than for your whole body to be cast into hellfire.

Cast, that is an interesting word don't you think? Cast means to throw. You should throw it from you so you can pick it back up again. He doesn't mean seriously pluck your eye out but is illustrating the severity of sins nature.

Why it is important to speak it out and confess it is also reflected by what Jesus said.

Jesus said that what goes into the mouth does not defile a man. (He is talking about food and more to the point the dietary laws.) But that what comes out of a mans mouth, that defiles a man for what comes from the mouth comes from the heart. (He is talking about speech)

Words are very powerful and important, I mean what was the first thing the Lord did?

He spoke :)

Guys, try always to MEDITATE on the words of GOD and NOT 'teachings' taught by your 'teachers'!!!

Read again:

Jesus prophesied that "MANY will fall away" (Matt. 24:10). Likewise, Paul said the Anti-Christ cannot be revealed until "the great apostasy" takes place (II Thess. 2:3).

MANY will fall away..From what? From the Church! From believers! From Christians!

Re-read my post again to see how Jesus WARNED us that some people will NOT believe for all their life time!

Read the warnings of God about FALSE teachers/FALSE doctrines spread by some Christians in OUR CHURCHES!!!

Jesus says:

Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe FOR A WHILE, but in the time of TESTING they FALL AWAY.
