I Corinthians 7:10-16: To the married I give this command {not I but the Lord}: A wife must not separate from her {believing} husband. But if she does, she MUST remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his {believing} wife. To the rest I say this{I, not the Lord}. If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him...But if the unbeliever leaves let him do so. A believing man or woman is *NOT BOUND* in such circumstances. God has called us to live in peace. How do you know wife, whether you can save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you can save your wife?

A lot of people do not realize that ALL VOWS including wedding VOWS are sinful in the NT according to Matthew 5:33-37 and James 5:12: ABOVE ALL, my brothers, do not swear--not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned!

The Lord also commands us to not even date an unbeliever such as a Muslim or a Roman Catholic.

If an unbeliever divorces you and is still an unbeliever you are free to marry again. If a believer sinfully divorces you against your will and you are sure they are a believer you must be reconciled to that believer as long as they remain alive. If you were divorced before you became a believer you are free to marry again if your former mate was an unbeliever since you cannot chose to be unequally yoked.

Richard,

I agree with you except this point:

"If you were divorced before you became a believer you are free to marry again if your former mate was an unbeliever since you cannot chose to be unequally yoked. "

Why?

If this divorce was your sexual immorality (no matter if you are a christian or not) then God Jesus does not allow to marry you and you to be married:

Our God Jesus speaks:

(Mat. 19:9) "I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery."

Jesus said here in this verse above: Any divorce which is not sexual immorality is an adultery.

So in this case you should return to your LEGAL wife whom you divorced illegally as God said and FIX the situation. If she is married then God Jesus forbids you to remarry!

If you will disobey our God Jesus then it is a sexual immorality and He says in Revelation that sexual immoral people do NOT inherit the Kingdom of God!

Our God Jesus speaks:

(Mat. 19:9) "I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery."

What is "sexual immorality"? That is all sexual sins and "fornication" and "adultery".

What to do if this sexual immoral person is you as our God Jesus called you?

(1) First you have to repent of this sin

(2) Return to your LEGAL wife whom you divorced illegally as God said and FIX the situation. If she is married then God Jesus forbids you to remarry!

Stay then single!

NOTE again: Any divorce which is not sexual immorality is an adultery!!

And punishment for sin is DEATH.
