To produce endurance
Posted : 1 Oct, 2014 11:37 PM
When all kinds of trials and temptations crowd into your lives my brothers, don't treat them as intruders, but welcome them as friends! Realise that they come to test your faith:angel: and to produce in you the quality of endurance. But let the process go on until that endurance is fully developed, and you will find you have become men of mature character:angel: with the right sort of independence:dancingp:.
 James 1:2-4
Suffering makes us strong. God allows hardship in our lives so that our beliefsthose handholds of faith in a troubled worldwill became more and more real to us and less and less theory. We can start living out our faith-life in the real world.
We talk about believing this and believing that and about the truths we hold dear. But what if God would be saying to us, "You know, you have a lot of really great beliefs. You talk about them all the time. You talk about how you believe I can provide for your every need. Okay. Let Me put you into a situation where you have no other resources and really have to trust Me for that provision."
You see, God can allow these hardships and trials and shortfalls in our lives so that we will exercise our sometimes flabby faith muscles and step out on trust alone like Moses did it in the wilderness when he and Jews (the number of 600,000 men, plus women, children (and flocks) for a grand total of between 1-2.5 million humans) didnt have food and water and clothes but they bowed down their knees and trusted in the God of Israel that He would provide. And He did it.
"He (God) humbled you (Jews)and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD. 4 "Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. 5"Thus you are to know in your heart that the LORD your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.
And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth.."
Deuteronomy 8
We need to transfer our faith from the realm of theory to in-the-trenches reality, OBEYING God and rejection any idol-worship:
Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. ...
Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments:devil::angeldevil::buddies::toomuch::Mug:, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you ...
Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish. As the nations :angeldevil:which the Lord destroys before you, so you shall perish, because you would not be obedient to the voice of the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 8
