This Elder Gal 103 in the news has been excommunicated from her church because she made known to the Preacher she doesnt care for his Holiness style of preaching. An Elder Gent and 20 other people have left this church due to the Preachers style of preaching. I've posted 2 links from 2 different articles below.
Has anyone here heard of this before ?
What is Holiness style ?
What is the hollering and falling out in the middle of the floor about ?
What is your opinion on how the church handled the situation and how she is treated ?
Why a 103-Year-Old Woman Was Banned From Her Life-Long Church
It all sounds very strange to me, and though it's probably impossible to take sides as with so little information, I guess I find it difficult to believe that 20 members, one of them a 103 year old and another a Deacon, would be all at fault. But who really knows!
I also don't know what 'holiness style' refers to, I think all pastors should preach holiness, what other preaching is there?
As for falling about on the floor, well, I have heard of this happening at times. The Holy Spirit causes it, it can be a sensitive subject, some think it's a show perhaps. I believe it is certainly possible, never happened to me personally. But it wouldn't, on it's own, cause me to leave a church.
Anyway, there is plenty of scriptural evidence for apostasy and we should be very sensitive to the idea of churches being infiltrated by the enemy. I myself have had to (after much praying and trying to fight in the spirit) leave a church because of what I felt as attacks within it. I still pray for the church at didn't leave in bad terms, I think it's important not to sow discord...that's why this story is sad, not a good example of Christianity, sounds more like a political party than a church :-/

Yes...
What is Holiness style ?
She talking about Pentecostal preaching something like Rod Parsley or TD Jakes where they lay hands on the people, or Bishop GE Patterson...
What is the hollering and falling out in the middle of the floor about ?
Again, Pentecostal laying on of hands and people say they are being "slain in the Spirit of the Lord...
What is your opinion on how the church handled the situation and how she is treated ?
Of course, the pastor was/is wrong. If he felt this was/is something that God is doing then God would lead him to explain to the church what is happening, just as Peter stood and explained to the people on the day of Pentecost what was going on in Acts chapter 2... I think much of what was going on was in the flesh, and not of the Holy Spirit...
We'll see where this goes, but in reading this article, what he was doing is of his flesh trying to make something happen in the Lord that isn't happening... otherwise, why would he refuse to leave the church after being voted out?. Jesus teaches us in Scripture that if we are rejected, then we are to shake the dust from out feet and leave... and if they cast/voted out we are to do so peacefully.
Check out this article and video... this is not Biblical or of God... why take someone to court over such matter as this? Why not be Christ-like and leave, since you have been voted out from being their pastor?.. in the Baptist church we vote the pastor in by majority and vote the pastor out by majority of members and deacons and trustees...
Here are a few videos of Pentecostal/Charismatic/Apostolic/ Holiness Style of Worship Service and Benny Hinn.. these videos should be enough to let you know what Mrs.Biggs was talking about "HOLINESS-STYLE"... she just was not use to this style of worship, she's a traditional baptist, and of the traditional baptist hold worship service on the order of the Methodist..seldom say amen when the preacher is preaching...
The pastor should have explained to her and the whole church that he felt God was calling the church to experience a new thing... God says, He will let us know when He does a new thing...so why didn't the pastor let the church know? As I stated most likely it wasn't of God, more of his flesh...
I did a little research on the Holiness StyleFrom what I understand it is a bit of a Fire and Brimstone with a laying on of Hands mixed with what is called Easy Greasy Grace doctrine thrown into it. Ive been told its a bit like Pentecostal but souped up a bit. Im kinda wonder with you about the group of 20 folks not all at fault and this is why.
The falling out on the floor is strange. Ive heard of it and seen it before on TV, but it is not Biblical. Folks call it Slayed in the Spirit. The closest thing Ive found in the NT is found in Actswhen the Holy Spirit fell upon the Folks and They ALL started Speaking in different tongues of fire languagesI have no doubt that they were Speaking and Professing the Gospel about JesusTo all the folks from different places in their own languages...Acts 2:1-47I dont read they laid their hands on the folks or fell down on the floor. So Id have to agree with the 20 and Id leave that church too.FAST!!!!...
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with a Church. Ive had a few myself in the years I was Church hopping. Some Churches teach way off in left field. Some dont teach they just tell Stories. Some are just all about Politics and Works and very little Jesus. I was called out of a hugh Mega Church and planted into a small full gospel Church. Ive learned more in this little Church than all the others Ive attended with the exception of the Hebrew Synagogue/Temple. Papa GOD really does Plant His children were He wants them to be for His purpose of course even if it is in a Home Church. Ive been to a few home Churches and I really enjoy them. Ive spent many an hour in private studies also in my lil home being taught by the HolySpirit of the LORD just as other Christians have. Im really glad to hear you have been keeping in fellowship with the brothers and sisters In~Christ. As Barbara Streisand sings so beautifullyPeoplePeople Need People!!!I have absolutely no doubt you Carl will be lead to where you are to be planted and when it happens Im looking forward to hearing you share about it.
Hi Shimshon.Welcome to the forumsor should I be sayingWelcome back ? ;) You shared Sounds like sensationalism....all about the flesh and mindIt sure does brotherno doubt about it!!! God Bless You!!!
Hello Sister ET.Yup~A~Roo Buck~A~RooYou covered it allThanks for the VideosI need to get me some popcorn and watch the ShowsGod Bless!!!
