There is actually a calculation that determines appropriate age range for most likely to succeed coupling--of course there are always exceptions.

You take a prospective partner's age and compare it to your age by taking the older person diving by two and adding 7. DOes the other person fall in that range?

For example. I have met someone who is 35. I am 43. Divide my age and add 7 and that means an acceptable age is 29. Of course that puts my upper range at 70, so it just goes to show that there is no good answer.

Hi Rosemarie, welcome to the forums. Well for me...I've dated only 3 men that where younger years ago. They were very nice young men but were always seeking the next best thing to come along. Sorry, but I'm not a steppin stone...lol. Personaly I find that a lil' younger and diffinately older is more my speed. And the exception would be of course the maturity, wisdom and spirit of the younger person. I'm always open minded but not seekin a boy, I'm seekin a man and one thats ready to settle down....

Blessins to you and yours...

Jude

I believe that the age of the "soul" is more important than the age of the body. A younger person may have an "older" soul and the other way around. I suggest to keep an open mind but to always be truthful to yourself and others.

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

I agree w/you Jude; my perspective exactly. The formula puts men out of range for me--way too young, but hey, it may work for some. I 've talked w/ladies who prefer a younger man, but I generally find that isn't the case.

Wow! I know a younger man who'd just fit into that formula, but I cannot imagine that he'd be interested in my saggy baggy old bod. We are good friends, tho, so although the chances are slim, well, you never know.

My husbands were older than I, and look, they are dead, and dead after long sufering for everyone concerned. I don't want that again, but don't want to cause such a thing for someone else either.

When you are getting older, the chances of one or the other getting very ill or dying just grow exponentially. Maybe there's no good answer. No guarantee, that's for sure!

Well Ioanna, is there ever a happy medium? Let's just keep trusting the Lord, & yes, the older generation do re-marry. God bless you & take care. :purpleangel:

There's a good question. I say it depends on what it is that you want from the relationship. If you're only interested in the companionship then age may be less of a factor. If however either partner want children then that has to be taken into account.

Speaking for myself at age 43, I find most ladies near my own age already have children and dn't want any more. I myself have never had any so I've started looking younger. How yound to go is the question since life experience and maturity are concerns. I doubt I'd look older than I since that kinda takes away the possiblity of children.

I've given it a lot of thought and if God were to send me a mate who was half my age and truly loved me I don't think I could walk away from it.

Hello I guess I am thinking of the age group, when two people are 50 and over, It might make a difference in that age group.

It is an age group that would think childern are out of the picture.

My older sister went on a date with a younger man. He is 50 and she is 64, they both get along really well. He is a wonderful man of God, and mature man.

Anyway I wonder if after a the 50 age mark if it matters age matters anymore.

I myself have been thinking that age does matter, I seem to be having a change of heart.

I am thinking if the person is mature and loves Jesus that is all that matters. Myself I would not go younger that 5 years from my age.

God bless you all
