My name is Joanna, and I'm from Philippines. I've been on this site since like more than a year ago. I'm glad I knew this site because I made good friends, and I still talk to few of them :)
I'm in this site basically to try out online dating. I was so skeptical of trying this at first, but I've been here for a year now so I can say now that there is nothing really that bad about online dating. I learned we just have to be careful and know our limitations, and I'm glad about how I've been taking this experience into good influence to me.
All throughout my journey of being active, on and off and so on in my experience of doing online dating sites, I think I've come up and known what and why I think I am here for.
I really desire:
1. To come across different people in the world, to try out online friendship and see new things and know new things about other races. I'm not sure why but I am really fascinated of having knowledge of how foreign people live their lives, and of course their CHRISTIAN life.
2. To practice my English better. I hope this doesn't sound bad for you or something hehe. It's just, there are some reasons that I can't really practice my English better in my own place. It's like, I am much more comfortable talking, writing, speaking my English with people who really are naturally born to speak the language.
3. Relationships. Oh yeah, that is basically the reason why people sign up here. Well, I would be lying if I said, I am not here for that. Yes, I am. And my hopes are high at some point. But hey, I don't want to care to much. Relationship are really a bonus for me if ever.
I am here because I desire for GENUINE FRIENDSHIP. A friend or friends across ocean is a difficult thing but I find it fascinating. So yes! I wanna try it here.
I am also trying to go abroad, so I wanna have friends as much as I could in every part of the world :)
I'm not sure what this sort of a should profile/whatever words Ive put here will make sense, but I thought to try to put it here to make a shout out or something lol.

So I believe your post brings up a lot of good points. Yeah, people sign up on dating sites to find a relationship, but theres no need to rush anything. It's also a good way to make some great new friends. By the way, I'm Cristin!
