Car RepairPosted : 10 Dec, 2011 09:10 AMWould it be easier/better to just get a new one as opposed to getting the transmission repaired? |

Car RepairPosted : 10 Dec, 2011 11:48 AMhi. ok here goes the transmission goes between the engine and the axle basically put. It takes the power from the engine and, thru a series of gears transfers that power to the tires. They cost so much to fix because they are fairly complicated inside and takes some time/parts to rebuild. The important thing to keep in mind on a rebuild is that you verify somehow that it is a reputable mechanic because there are a lot of moving parts inside. How much did you say it would be to rebuild? Compare that with the new transmission install cost would be my suggestion. Also would recommend a second opinion to verify thats truly the prob. Hope that helps. |

Car RepairPosted : 10 Dec, 2011 12:09 PMalso IHeartdogs, consider the miles on the present car,as sometimes it is just better to get a new one than deal with ALL the nickel and diming that comes with aging cars??? |

Car RepairPosted : 10 Dec, 2011 03:30 PMhow did you get that price? The only only one I found that seemed reputable to me was a little over 1800 with a 1 year warranty, plus shipping. |

Car RepairPosted : 11 Dec, 2011 08:49 AMIf you trust your mechanic, ask him what he thinks is best seeing how you want to keep it for four more years. |
