James 2:1-26 ESV / 14 helpful votes

My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, You sit here in a good place, while you say to the poor man, You stand over there, or, Sit down at my feet, have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? ...

Hebrews 11:1-40 ESV / 8 helpful votes

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Pj, you cannot be serious in your response. You consistently fail to provide evidence for your accusations and then turn it around with a blanket statement "that's what Calvinist do". You completely avoided the question by trying to turn the tables. I am familiar with the tactic having dealt with Johavah Witnesses and their circular thinking.

Please don't post your rants without scripturally supporting them for you are in serious danger of misleading others which I'm sure you want no part of.

Seriously, be careful.

@ everyone:

Please look to the Greek language when you read this.

The english has this wrong, and those that say 'Faith without works is dead'.

These people are just parrots, someone says something and they just follow right along, without being a 'Berean'

Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

The Greek would refute this in a minute.
