There was a Samaritan, Simon, a native of the villiage called Gitto, who in the reign of Claudius Caesar, and in your royal city of Rome, did mighty acts of magic, by virtue of the devils operating in him. He was considered a god, and as a god was honored by you with a statue, wich statue was constructed on the river Tiber... And almost all of the Smaritans, and a few even of other nations, worship him, and knowledge of him as the first god; and a woman named Helena, who went about with him at that time, and had formerly been a prostitute, they say is the first idea generated by him. And a man, Meandeer, also a Samaritan, of the town Cappareteau, a disciple of Simon, and inspired by devils, we know to have deceived many WHILE HE WAS IN ANTIOCH by his magical art... And there is Marcion, a man of Pontus, who is even at this day alive, and teaching his disciples to believe in some other god greater than the Creator. And he, by the aid of the devils, has caused many of every nation to speak blasphemies, and to deny that God is the maker of this universe, and to assert that some other being, greater than He, has done greater works. All those who take their opinions from these men, are, as we have said, CALLED CHRISTIANS just as also those who do not agree with the philosophers in their doctrines, have yet in common with them the name of the philosophers given to them." [The First Apology of Justin Martyr, XXVI, p. 171-172] There we have Justin Martyr, within fifty years of John the Beloved's death telling us that this Simon the Magician was the same as recorded in Acts 11:26, because he was - that Simon the Magician - at ANTIOCH, where it is recorded: "And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch." [Acts 11:26] People were mistaking the disciples of Simon Magus, the Founder of Christianity, with the true disciples. This is why Peter states, "Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf." [I Peter 4:16] Notice that Peter states, "if any man suffer as a Christian", let him not be ashamed." Why would Peter say that we were not to be ashamed, if it was a great thing to be called a Christian? Note, that Peter did not say "we are Christians". How is it that we were not calling ourselves Christians before this time written of in Acts 11:26, if this is what we already were? Was Jesus so wrong as to not have told us that "you are Christians"? And why is it recorded that "we were called Christians", by the outside world. This is not a title the children of God, or that the Lord Jesus used! Surely you are more mature than that! [?] Why do you think that the scripture states, "IT WAS AT ANTIOCH... THAT THE DISCIPLES WERE FIRST CALLED CHRISTIANS"...? Think about it! It is simple! The believers were not at Antioch, first, they were at Jerusalem. And don't you find it strange that they were not referred to as "Christians", in Jerusalem, first? Why didn't Jesus teach that "this is what you are to call yourselves"..? If we were to be taught that we "were to be Christian", then why didn't Jesus tell us? It is simple, and the Father intended it to be; so He had it written, to provide a clue... A HUGE ONE.. YOU ARE! insulting us all that love the lord Jesus by calling us satainic! all that scripture means is thats when they were first CALLED CHRISTIANS! IF it had been evel to be a Christian hey dont you think the Bibile would say so? wee thats just as obserd as saying Jesus would have said "now call yourselfs Christians" all Christian is (the word) is a description it means Christ like! So if we are called something that means we are like Christ or his followers and we openly worship him and we repented of our sind (that means turning from sin not livimg in it expecting grace to cover it) and believe he is who he said he is then whats it matter what we or anyone else calls us! Its just a name andif you know anything about the Bible every single name is a description so what else would we be called but a name that describes what we are FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST or CHRIST LIKE!!!
