YOUR INNER AND OUTER BEAUTY



Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.



1 Peter 3:3-4



When a designer sends a model down the runway of a fashion show, he or she is concerned with the total look of the model. The model isn't just wearing the designer's garments. The designer, in nearly all cases, has spent a great deal of time and effort to make sure the model is wearing the right accessories-the right jewelry or shoes or hat. And they create the overall environment in which the models are to model their designs.



And so it is with our great God. He created you as a composite. He put certain talents and features together with specific personality traits. God made us with flesh-an outer appearance. God also made us with inner qualities--gifts and talents and traits and personalities.



The outer doesn't replace the need for the inner. The inner doesn't negate the need for the outer. We must have balance.



That didn't happen in Leah's case. She was judged only by what she looked like on the outside. Nobody saw the total Leah, except God.



Some women make that same mistake. They define themselves by what they wear and how they look. They allow the outer appearance to determine their inner demeanor.



Everyone of us must recognize that the greater part of our attractiveness cannot be bought, taken off a rack or shelf, applied like a lipstick, or put on like a hat or shoes. The greater part of our attractiveness lies within and it wells up from the inside and finds a creative and appropriate expression on the outside.



God sees what no one else can see. And it's that part of you that He values the most.
