Part 1

John the baptizer preached "repent for the kingdom of heaven has drawn near(Matthew 3:2)."

Christ proclaimed the same message(Matt. 4:17)

A few verses later it says that He was preaching the gospel of the kingdom.

4:23 "and Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people."

In Matt. 10:5 Christ called the twelve disciples and sent them out

" These twelve Jesus sent forth, commanding them, saying, Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans do not enter

6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7 And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven has drawn near."

Later in chapter 16:21 Christ tells the disciples something that is strange to their ears.

Mat 16:21 "from then on Jesus began to show his disciples, how that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day."

Peter didn't believe it.

22" Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, mercy on you, Lord! this will never happen to you!

23 But he turned, and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan: you are a trap and a stumbling block to me. for your mind is not on the ways of God but on human ways."

John the baptizer, Christ and the twelve were preaching a message that had no mention of the death of Christ. Even after this incident, they still did not include his death in their message.

Notice Mark 9:31 For he taught his disciples, and said to them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

9:32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

Also see Luke 18:34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

part 2

John the baptizer, Christ and the twelve proclaimed the gospel of the kingdom to the people of Israel. They did not have to tell Israel what the kingdom was. The people didn't ask them because they already knew.

Speaking of John the baptizer, Luke writes

1:16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord

So John was preparing the way for the Lord.

Luke further adds the words of the angel to Mary.

1:31 And, behold, you shalt conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he will be king over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.

These words in the previous verses say that Jesus will be given the throne of his ancestor david. he will rule over the house of Jacob for ever. the last phrase is just another way of saying the same thing-of his kingdom there will be no end.
