Hello: My name is Val and I was raised in WPB Florida. My family moved to Louisiana when I was 12. I have three sisters. My dad started a roofing and painting business in 1956. He took me to work with him often. I was on salary for about 30 years. We did almost anything. He taught me a lot about almost everything. I am now a Jack-of-all-Trades and I am good at what I do.
At 20 months of age in 1956 I was gut shot. It is a miracle I am alive. I was shy before the accident. After my recovery my mom told me (Years Later) that I became even shyer.
I am good at getting you to smile or laugh and I can keep a conversation going. It took me years to be comfortable talking to women. I was just not good at asking for a date. I can do almost anything but getting a date was always very difficult for me. I now only need to meet someone and I will not have any problem asking. Took me a very long time.
Living alone for over 35 years has given me a great appreciation for women. I am always a gentleman. I am humorous and kind. I have never said an unkind word to any woman. I do not lose my temper. The small stuff is nothing. I do not let anything get me down. I am always optimistic and positive. I do not assume things. It is human nature to assume the worst when we do not know. Life is good when you have a new nature that can override the old one. I give others the benefit of the doubt.
My dad was saved in 1976 at my mom's funeral. I was saved ten years later in 1986. My dad kept giving me some really good Christian books to read. The one that worked best for me was a little book written by Mrs. Paul Fredrichson titled, Gods Word Made Plain. In 1987 I enrolled in a Christian college and graduated in 1991. I attended an Independent Baptist Church.
I can deal with any situation and stay calm. I drank too much for many years and I have been sober for over 4 years now. I have so many tools in my work truck I can handle just about any project or emergency. I am a hard worker and I can get any job done. I am self employed and I do mostly home improvements. I am good at fixing things and i am into self improvement, hence my screen name is Fixingme.
I am a bit old fashioned and am always a gentleman. I open doors for women and I allow them to sit before I do. I enjoy doing the small things for her. I like being organized and I clean up after myself. I am never bored or boring. I have never had a boring day in my life. It is easy for me to stay occupied or to find something to do. I like to stay busy.
I like a woman with a good smile. Her hair should not be as short as a mans. I do not care for a loud or complaining woman. Some women seem to live to complain. ouch. I am honest, loyal, romantic and dependable. I like to be on-time or early. I like to have fun.
I am very active and am always doing something. I like to read and my home is full of books, good ones. I love animals and I like to go fishing. I enjoy swimming, bike riding, camping out, nature trails and more. I have had many boats and motorcycles. I like flea markets and garage sales. I like to listen to the golden oldies, country and some pop music. I do not like rap. Slow dancing is super. I prefer action movies and will watch just about anything.
I hope to be with a woman that enjoys cuddling often. I like to hold her hand when we are out and about. I hope to be with a woman that likes to be held while we fall asleep. Nothing better than holding the one you love. I am pleased most when I know I am pleasing her. I need a woman that will communicate freely and share thoughts and feelings. I am good at making my woman feel special and I show it to her in everything I say or do.

- This would depend on the woman and how much I know about her. I would choose a quiet place to enjoy a non alcoholic beverage where we could have a good conversation and then go for a walk. We could also get the drinks to go and then visit a park of some sort to talk while watching children play or etc.
