lol if my husbands last name is "weiner" i'd tell people "the pronounciation is not as its spelled... its french sounding" so maybe "way-nur" or something like that. lol as to not be humiliated for the rest of my life. HAHA

If a girl was not willing to take my last name that would definitely be a red flag for me as well. The wife taking her husband's last name is a sign of submission, respect, and unity in the marriage. How can husband and wife become one flesh if the wife refuses to take her husbands own last name?

If it were a case of a writer, celebrity, etc. needing to keep her last name for publicity purposes I would be more understanding, but I would still want her to take my last name. If keeping her last to help her career is more important to her than her marriage then that still definitely a red flag for me.

Besides . . . what girl wouldn't want an awesome last name like Hernandez? :peace: lol

Very well said IaoKim! and I agree Hernandez is a beautiful sounding last name. :glow:

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Using my husbands last name is one way of submitting myself to him.

I'm pretty much in agreement with most of the other guys on this one. It would really vex me if I were to marry someone and she didn't want to take my last name. What girl wouldn't want to be "Good"?

Of course, being a scientist, I could appreciate if she didn't want to take my name for certain reasons. I know several profs who began publishing papers before they were married and kept their maiden name at least professionally because changing it causes problems in their career (mainly with citing those papers and being recognized for them). I'd be ok with that especially if she used my name for other things.
