The CofE church has voted against ordaining women bishops: how do you ladies feel about this? Will it have any implications outside the Anglican church?

All Christians are one in Christ. As such, we need to treat each other with respect and compassion. There is room for disagreement within The Body but first, we need to remember to reflect the love and compassion of Christ. Not one of us knows and understands perfectly, yet. We are all striving to live our lives based upon God's perfect example for us: Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Right?

I respect you, NRSV1953. I think our interpretation of the body of Christ and the saints is different.

Matthew 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

Why are we to assume women bishops are in the body of Christ?

1 Timothy 2:12 - I suffer not a woman to teach...

Nowadays we have the world dictate how we should interpret the scriptures which should not be the case, as what's written should not be changed.

That being said, it doesn't mean that women cannot be used by God. There are so many women of valor that have been used by the Lord -- but none of them have been preachers. Hulda, Hannah, Esther, Ruth and Deborah to name a few, were all used by God. Some of them were even prophetess', but none where ordained to be a priest or bishop etc.

I totally agree. I think it's important to emphasize that women are just as able and likely to be used by God - the whole teaching matter is a little thing blown out of all proportion (much like the two trees), possibly because it makes them feel inferior which certainly isn't the case!

Women are just as able to teach as men, but the simple truth is that God has restricted certain people from doing certain things, such as David who wanted to build Him a temple, or Paul who tried to preach in Asia. They were good things to want to do, and they were capable of doing them, but even so, it wasn't in accordance with God's plans

The most effective teaching a woman can do is with her children - every king, president and prime minister were shaped by theirs! Good mothers truly are a blessing even long after they've gone, likewise the bad one can leave a legacy of suffering beyond their allotted time.

Lets be careful not to generalise what Gods word ment to be specific. Women can and are good college professors teaching men science , math, history, art etc. They can and are good captians of industry teaching trades and leading business.

For the reason God knows He limits womens ability to lead and teach men in the context of Church order.

Even in the home a woman can express her thoughts on biblical manners as a help to her husband.

A woman can teach and lead women and children in the context of church leadership and order. I think even giving a prayer and reading the morning events of the week in a church setting.

The key word is Athority over a man in the church setting and home. Women are not to express athority over a man in church order and the home.

To me the reason is clear. The first woman who ate of the tree and was decived and broke the order God established in the garden. Why would things be any different today for a woman to lead a ministry or home astray?

Can any woman really say that will never happen and be so confident in her ability to decern Gods will that she wouldnt do the same?

Thats the question..........

The reality is women need men to lead in spiritual things and men are not stepping up to the plate to do so.

By defalt women feel the need to step in and fulfill the role men are called to fill.

Be not a passive leader and step up to the plate men and be men.

@ Letthismind...

I'm sure you do understand the context in which the word "teach" is being used, right?

Nothing to do with Math, Science etc...

I am fully aware of the context. That scripture speakes of spiritual things and not worldly things. It speakes to the body of Christ and not the unsaved, Right?

To the Chuch. If you want to try applying it to those who are lost good luck brother.
