OK, So, I need some Godly wisdom and counsel. I've already questioned the men's opinion, but now I'm asking the ladies...

I have been overweight all my life, growing up as a kid, etc. I've always been a big girl. I've tried a slew of diets, and tried Weight Watchers a couple of times. While on Weight Watchers, I was careful not to cheat, and was going to the gym 3-4 times/week, and still could not reach anywhere near goal. I think my only hope is giving up carbs, and sticking to just lean protein like grilled chicken, salmon, sushi, egg whites, and maybe legumes & beans. That in combination with walking daily seems like my only hope at this point.

I know other plus-size girls who have had luck finding guys, but it seems like most big girls who are married met their spouse when they were thin(ner). Should I sort of give up on looking for my soulmate, and on the idea of somebody accepting me and loving me as I am, and go on a VLCD, and then try the dating scene? And, then, what if I should happen to gain it back? Or, worse yet, what if I never "get small enough" to be pleasing in a guy's eyes?

I don't Really have advise to give becasue i struggle with this same thing on a daily basis! I want to get fit and eat right but when you really think about it if your poor its harder to get the healthier food. You can eat less and have protion control (which i do) but when your still haveing to eat Ramon noodles all the time becasue you cant afford fresh fruits and veggies, it's still unhealthy! I also struggle with the exersice thing, i've had surgery on my hip and its hard personally to do certain things phsyically!

I want to thank you though for having the courage to post this and to everyone for the encourageing words even though you were not talking to me it was still good advise that i can take to heart!

Godsgirl, the COST thing is something I've been having an internal struggle with. It seems like in the "good" days, I go all out, buy healthy food, some even organic, and set my mind. Then a bill comes in, or a need comes up, and it's just not practical nor doable all the time. I'm tired of the rollercoaster, and the let down and feeling like a failure. So, I've been praying, asking God what I should do, and thought I'd ask for other people's opinions on here. I personally feel like God is leading me to focus on what I can do, and to stop stressing over what I can't. God knows. Although, this doesn't seem to go over as well with the guys. Many guys don't seem to understand. So, I'm not buying as much fruits/vegetables (fresh), but am trying to increase my lean protein, and trying to make better choices in carbs. Praise God that this benefited somebody else, too! I'm glad. Focus on all that you CAN do, no matter what the situation, God can meet us there! Lay it all down at God's feet.

Hi there, Liv =)

Bless you for being so open about something I know that many of us ladies struggle with. I am not happy w/ my size either. I've been dieting all Summer but have only lost 4 pounds so far, which is really frustrating for me!

I really do think that the right guy will like you for you are on the inside, though. Our physical attribute change over time anyway, and a mature man will realize that and appreciate you and see your beauty throughout all of the physical stages you'll go through in your lifetime.

I'm trying to think of some tips... Once upon a time, I used to be able to lose weight very quickly... As far as exercising goes, find something you really enjoy. I'm really self-conscious about exercising in front of people, so I have quite a few DVDs. They're all in the 25-40 minute range so they don't take a ton of time! And they're pretty cheap too! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Paula Abdul's cardio dance DVD. I have really severe asthma (not exercise-induced, but it's difficult exercise when something else has already triggered my asthma) and am able to keep up w/ it just fine. It's a great pace! I bought the New York City Ballet's work out because I love ballet.. but *yikes* You have to already be seriously fit to keep up w/ that. My latest thing I'm loving is bellydancing! It's a great workout, and when I get over being sick, I'm going to start doing it every day =) Yoga is fun, but more for tonight than actual weight loss. Using those little hand weight things while you do it can really help to tone the upper arms. And I find that when I keep up w/ the yoga, that my actual workouts are much easier to do =)

For food, a couple of summers ago, I was eating a crazy amount of soy (which can be expensive, I know), and was losing several pounds a week. Soy REALLY makes me feel full... Kinda that feeling you get after eating pancakes. Fresh fruit is great too. You should try eating an apple about an hour before dinner and you won't be nearly as hungry. If you're into after-dinner sweets (like me!), then try things made w/ fruit... like pears w/ a little bit of caramel sauce... or a frozen banana w/ a tiny bit of chocolate sauce on it... or apple slices with pumpkin (w/ or w/out spices) spread on them. And drink a lot of water. The latest I've read on that is that you should take your weight, divide it by 2, and then drink that many ounces a day. A lot of times, our bodies can mistake thirst for hunger, so it's REALLY important to stay hydrated. It'll give you more energy too.

I make a smoothie every Saturday morning with lots of soy protein and fresh fruit and I drink a glass and then freeze the rest into popsicles for the rest of the week. Popsicles are my afternoon sweet treat. Me like sweets too much! LOL =)

Best of luck and keep your chin up =)

I have lost 50 lbs in 7 months by only taking iodine. Have you been checked for having an iodine deficiency. I made the choice not to take their man made medicine for my thyroid. I would advise you to talk to a healthcare food store. I take 3 to 6 drops every day. It comes in liquid form. I hope this helps and always... pray about everything before you do it... God Bless
